In his search for an explanation for his transformation, Hazel took the bold decision to go right into the heart of mankind's habitat. One of the first things he learned was that humans tended to react to unusually large animals as a typical rabbit would react to the larger breeds of elil.

Now and again Hazel would catch sight of a human who seemed to be just as curious about him as he was about his condition. He made some attempts to learn things more directly but the language barrier was very hard to bypass. He couldn't deny, though, that having all other animals look up to him was euphoric.
