A Lepidan (Butterfly) from a post-apocalyptic Earth where insects outlived mankind.
Kayln, like all Lepidans, is blessed with grace, elegance and most importantly, a powerful link to the spiritual and metaphysical realms. Lepidans are the court noble class of the Entomos, and all have some skill related to the metaphysical or spiritual, like psychic powers or even magic.
Kayln is one of the most powerful prophets of his age, able to see clearly and directly into the future of others. For this ability he has paid dearly. His own people view him as a frightening creature, and those that go to him for readings often do not hear what they would like, for he never lies about what he sees.
One such client was a Vespid, informed that he would never achieve the station and glory he sought. For the insult, the Vespid sawed off part of one of Kayln's legs. Kayln found grim pleasure in keeping the fact that the reason the Vespid never achieved his goals was because he was killed the next day by another victim of his cruelty.
One of Kayln's most unique customers was the tyrant General Azsche - one of Kayln's additional services is self-prostitution, and he is a particular commodity: a hermaphrodite.
Azsche went to Kayln out of morbid curiosity and was told that he would die at the many hands of an Arachi. It was the only prediction Kalyn ever lied about, and he lay in the arms of the man - murdering monster or not - that he chose as his permanent lover.
