One of many spawn of the Arachi king, Septimus, but the only one born with The Sight.
The only race among the Entomos with a propensity for psychic talents are the Lepidans. every once in a great while, though, a Seer is born among another race. The power is unheard of among Arachi, however, since physically weak or compassionate young are often devoured and Seers tend to be less warlike.
Septimus' son committed one of the greatest crimes the Arachi have: he killed a female Arachi.
Among Arachi, females have the right to devour their mates for the next generation. This does not mean the male has to sit there and accept the hungry female's attack - he can cut and run. they are expressly forbidden from attacking or killing the female, however.
The first time Septimus' son mated, he fought back in fear, and accidentally killed his mate. Septimus had no choice but to sentence his son to death. Despite the belief that Septimus is little more than a mad man, however, he is actually quite intelligent, and even compassionate at times. Not wanted to see his own child to the execution block, he instead offered the Arachi a compromise: since he committed the most heinous crime they have, why not give him a fate worse than death? Why not give him as a slave to the Vespids, the most vile enemies of the Arachi?
So the young Arachi was delivered to Septimus' Vespid friend, the new General, Azzern. Knowing Azzern was not a cruel man, Septimus actually gave his son a second chance in a culture more suited for his less barbaric demeanor. While the nameless youth does indeed live as a slave, he is more free than most, special pet to Azzern, a known supporter of equal rights among the Entomos' myriad peoples.
