Sal the Arachi (spider) and Ezra the Vespid (wasp) from a post-apocalyptic Earth where insect outlived man.

Sal is a grizzled old war vet, grumpy, less than conversational and more interested in his textile business than the goings on of the world.
Ezra is Sal's market neighbor, the gay fruit vendor.

Naturally the two clash on a regular basis, but no one can say Ezra's constant smile and good nature don't help Sal's own wholly unapproachable demeanor and sour moods.
Few know the story behind the two: Ezra - a wingless Vespid and therefore less highly ranked in the peerage, was found nearly dead in the gutter years ago by Sal who happened to be out walking the night Ezra was apparently dumped after a beating. The Arachi took the Vespid in against his better judgment and they've been virtually inseparable since, despite their obvious differences in both lifestyle and personality.
