Okay, I got ahold of more regular-lighting pictures that do this thing better justice than the first I posted, so I'm posting them too. :3 (I didn't delete the first one, it's just in Scraps if anyone's looking for it)
More shots of the bird partial I made for
turbinedivinity! I didn't make the dress, just the wings and head. :) Photo by my friend Micah; I particfularly like the top shot, 'cause the background seems very wonderland-y. Top is from Saturday, bottom is from Friday night at RainFurrest.
Since I've been getting lots of questions especially about the eyes, yes, they're made with electroluminescent wire (elwire for short)! google it for more info, there's lots out there.

I saw this in person, and it's a pretty great costume. Nice work! It's slightly intimidating when someone is majorly talented both in 2d media and 3d stuff - but it's also pretty rad. :D

I made all three! :D Spaced out by a few years, but that's how long I've been working on this as a concept, maybe 6 years? It's one of those things that's really not that difficult, just requires a lot of trial and error (lots of error) to get right. Like any art, I guess. and I didn't know you were there at RF! I thought I saw an oryx that looked like yours, but I couldn't quite tell if it was the same one. :)
I've gotten it from a few places (add .com): coolneon is good for wire and connectors but they're the place I got those sketchy inverters, so not sure I'd trust those again... I recall coolight being okay, maybe slightly pricier on the inverters?... glowire also sells it but I've not ordered from them personally. You can also usually find various colors of wire, usually in precut lengths, for fairly cheap on eBay.
Cool, I will check them out. I think they ll showed up in the first page of a google search for the stuff.
Worst comes to worst, I could probably persuade Rik to build an inverter as another of his hobby electronic projects. Which would also mean I could write my own driver code, if I wanted to do something more complex than just "on/off/blink"!

It's mostly foam (3 different kids) but also has some fiberfill, amature wire (thick), floral wire (thin), plastic canvas, and various fabrics/glitter/etc. :3 I'm honestly not sure how much I'd charge for something like this; this one wasn;t exactly a commission, it was sort of a hybrid commission/trade/thanks for buying me beer every week sort of thing, and my previous birds have just been made for my own sake. I mmmight think about taking commissions of these in the future but I'm not quite sure yet when or for how much!

So YOU'RE the one that made them. Jesus Christ I have never fanboy'd over some one elses suits before until I saw these. haha I would not shut up about them to my friends they where all "yeah yeah Soki we know we know". Awesome job, please make more. We more need variety in this fandom from the "o-face" suits! /endfanboying
