So, for those of you who don't know, The Satanic Temple is involved in a bit of a kerfuffle with a few Arkansas State legislators regarding issues of multiple infractions of both the State and Federal constitutions..
*sets her chin* You know, I've already been over this and the related laws in great detail on other postings, specifically in the artist info sections, so I'm just going to leave some links here to explain the general situation. If you're not already, please familiarize yourself with the situation before proceeding- or for the love of Lucifer, leaving some ill-mannered comment... Sweet Baphy's balls...

This Thursday will be seeing the big Round 2 as The Temple brings our statue of The Baphomet to Arkansas and Senator Rapert gets another chance at choosing a peaceful settlement which is mutually beneficial and respectful of all of us or continues to enforce a rather unpleasant and unlawful promotion of his chosen faith over all others. *shrugs, smiling* We shall see.
In the meantime, our household organized a bit of a picnic at the capitol a few days ago in which we had a pleasant time, munched on a few bratwursts, sweated our parts off and spoke with a few interested folkes about the issue. For the most part, our interactions were rather pleasant. We may yet go up again before Thursday.
Pictured herein are two of our household, my lovely lady
Krissiefox and my lord
ahriman, both looking lovely and with a very good question for our dear senator. You've got your monument, Mr Rapert. Where's ours...?

You're a sweetheart, as always, love. *smiles*
The good senator has been given opportunity after opportunity to make good on this issue and sadly he has chosen not to. I don't know if you've seen it bu he's actually posted videos saying that not only is he proud of plastering his religion's wank on taxpayer land but also that "there will never be a monument to heathen, pagan religions" on state grounds. So The Temple are pretty confident that with video evidence of a clear violation of state and federal law made by the man himself we'll see some manner of justice done.
Though the group of christians trying to organize a 'counter protest' is a bit laughable... What exactly are you people protesting again?

I believe that they are protesting against the very public existence of anything and anyone they deem non-christian and contrary to what they spout as 'Christian values', which are quite clearly not following the teachings written in the Bible.
Too bad I live so far away, else I'd print a bunch of small Baphomet statues so you can hand them to the state representatives or even just put them around this 'monument' until the big one get installed or this gets removed... It'd be so fun to watch those 'Christians' go into full meltdown if their beloved ten commandments was surrounded by little Baphomets!

*stares bug-eyed with huge grin on her face*
Seriously, that is an idea so far beyond the limits of awesome that I think it opened a hole in the space-time continuum and put Star Trek TNG back on the air. That's how awesome an idea that is.
I may have to speak with you this evening or more likely tomorrow regarding something along those lines, a commission for your talents... Also, when we'll be getting to see your happy self. *smirks*

I'll be happy to talk about your project whenever we see each other online, or else we can exchange emails.

What are you referring to, love...? Noone in the photo is wearing a 'cowboy heat'. My husband is wearing a slouch hat... *brow furrows in confusion*
Also, I'm afraid you have me at a loss, giving you the benefit of the doubt... 'Irony' is a poetic device in which a word is used for a purpose other than it's literal intention. How this would apply to someone's fashion choice perplexes me, barring taking some sense of faux-superiority based on following trends in pop-culture or something...

I apolagize for my arrogance. I am not someone who can tell hats apart.
I am just corious, since people wear barely hats where I come from. But when they do, they get some funny looks as long it´s not part of a costume, uniform or something. (Aside from beanies and snapbacks)
When I hear America, I always automatically imagine some dude on a horse with a cowboy hat. But I think that it´s just a prejudice until I actually see a cowboy-like American in some sort of media :D
But I´d assume that a cowboy-like attire is more of a Texas-Exclusive thing, right?

AH. No harm done. *smiles, offers a drink* I believe I understand what you're saying, love. I know when my ex moved over from Utrecht she expected to see basically a mess of people with cowboy hats, riding horses and six-shooters as well. *snickers* I can't say the more backwards elements of America haven't earned that stereotype for everyone here. It is a prejudice, love, yes but I think like most prejudice it comes from a place of ignorance, not malevolence and is understandable. "Stereotypes come from somewhere."
As far as hats go, they're pretty common thoughout the country, though mostly you see baseball caps or trucker caps. My husband likes hats and has a few pretty awesome ones, slouchies, fedoras a nice top hat. I have a few artsy friends who can really rock a beret, though I've never felt one looked very good on me. If I wear a hat it's usually either a cadet cap, my leather top hat or one of my woo-girl hats.
Cowboy hats are worn mostly in the south or mid-west but really, you can see them anywhere, generally on college age party-girls.

That's more or less the point The Satanic Temple has been making since this started, love. Nominally, we would agree that there should be no monuments of religion on taxpayer land as per the first amendment. However, with the senator placing the christian monument in open defiance of the law, then refusing equal representation with The Baphomet monument and then actually creating a workaround after the fact to try and make that okay somehow...
Yeah. You can see where this is going, I hope, love.

I seem to remember this same thing happening in Ohio or something like that years ago, same type of monument, satanic temple did manage to get a statue up, but was soon destroyed by someone claiming satan made him do it.
With him placing that statue on public land he has no precident to deny other religious groups the same thing since by law he has to allow others to do it now

I believe you may be referring to a sort of mash-up of a similar kerfuffle in Oklahoma where The Temple did get the legislators to agree to move their ten commandments off public land(a choice they found preferable to putting up The Baphomet, or any other religion's monument, apparently) and the first ten commandments monument which was up -and destroyed- in Arkansas... ostensibly why they put barricades around this one *snickers*. Apparently, 'god' doesn't protect his own monuments... *head tilts* Though this would technically qualify as a graven image... *shrugs*
I agree with your assessment as do pretty much everyone but the good senator and his hardline christian conservative supporters. It seems such a simple point of basic respect, equal freedom under the law but they have literally said that they don't agree with the concept....

Oh, I agree entirely, love. Much like how it's legal in most cities in Tennessee to terminate any public teacher whom acknowledges that homosexuality exists in a classroom, even in a historical or biological context.
Why? Because Jeeee-zus.
*sighs* We stand against them, united, now or we won't be able to tomorrow.

Yea i dont see how people can deny a literal mountain of Evidence that Homosexuals have existed for Thousands of Years in out species alone, and has been documented in at least 15 other species of animals
Then again as far as im concerned Deities are Fiction, some better written than others ill grant

Oh it's FAR more than fifteen, love. *chuckles* Last I checked, the number was over two-hundred at this point. However, they know what they're doing. As The Bard himself said it, "They want to control language and control information because that's how you control thought, which is basically the game they're in".
As to the latter point, *thumbs up, grins* I happily re-assert my position as stated here- https://www.furaffinity.net/view/25487817/

I know you do, love. I also know you mean everything you say here and I am so very grateful to have you in my life for being the wonderful person that you are.
I do have a new phone! *big eyes* The thing is huge! It's like... bigger than ay phone I've ever had... this thing is flat as a pancakes' pancake but sticks outta my pocket like a boner in a marble bag. *pokes at the phone* I did manage to get a few numberas transferred though, love. I'm slowly moving past at least some of my techno-tardation, with Jami's help of course. *laughs*

I feel ya. This Galaxy S9+ is so much smarter, AND dumber than I in so many ways! It's super handy, tho. If you could, do send me a little note or a message or something just to make sure I got your new number. Also, I thank you for your very sweet words and praise love. It means the world to me. *grins and hugs tight*
Is that statue on government property? If so, why? I mean, isn't it favouring one religion over another, which is then a, against the First Amendment, and/or b, against the good taste for the governing body?
I mean, in that case, you deserve a monument just like Allah, Elohim, Vishnu, Ra, Izanagi and Izamaki, the god of the ancient huns, etc.... You could make an entire statue park and put up a "visit the park with the most religious monuments!" Sign and may be able to break some record... :3

Yes ma'am, it is. As to why, that would be, in the good senator's own words, because "the good christian people of Arkansas deserve it".
Yeah... he's a total tool bag... and yes, it is a flagrant violation of both article 21 vof the state constitution and the first amendment of the United States federal constitution. You are correct.
Senator Rapert has stated on record that he has no interest in seeing any monument such as ours on taxpayer grounds, going so far as to push a bill through to establish that any monuments to be on taxpayer land, after the ten commandments one was erected, of course, would only be allowed if they were privately donated to the state and sponsored by a member of the state cabinet. *snofts* If that sounds shady and unscrupulous that's only because it is.

Get one commissioned that seems like Christian bht actually humanist or something. Before they notice, they already in a Catch-22.
Ooor say that your house got a rule that you can put satanic symbols in your private garden, or something...? I mean, when in Rome and render unto Caesar...

I say it more because of how people like him are willing to manipulate the law in order to keep dogmatic CONTROL in society...
The Pharisees were much like that in that they were priests who'd become ingratiated into Roman politics.
I dunno why, or how, that someone like me can grow up in the church and see the importance of humanity and civility... simple dignity and RESPECT for one another. and then you have...this... patently "unchristian" display... It not only confuses me, it breaks my heart... I'm going to try and go Thursday, even if it puts me someplace I am NOT ready to be... I'm tired of making excuses for not being involved in my community... or rather, state.

They were as integrated as covert revolutionaries. Same difference i guess... Wanting full power and no taxation, but still have all the boons...?
Thank you for giving my faith (humans are good) another boost. People like you are why I am not angry, but sad, when such happens in this lovely world.

I'm glad that I can restore even a little faith in us as a species.
now if only people talking about the protests on youtube weren't such blithering idiots...
like this guy who I guess lives in Little Rock and makes state news videos...
"these...anti-christian bigots. disgusting baphomet statue"
0.0 SERIOUSLY?! talk about drinking the kool-aid >.> and people defend that sort of behavior... WTF

I wonder what he would say if someone would make a statue to..... Any nonchristian religion with full governmental backing. From their tax money.
Maybe just my Eastern European stuff, but it always comes back to very earthly things... Power, money, reelection...

I'm with your point of view, but human nature being what it is, I don't see you winning this. Even if, by some crazy sequence of highly improbable events, somehow a Satanic Monument were constructed, and the government forced to approve of it, some average joe citizen(s) of a strongly Christian mindset would destroy it. I wouldn't bet on it lasting 24 hours. Those same people would join hands in circling the 10 Commandments to protect it. Still I'll wish best of luck to you!
Oh love, Baphomet has been constructed, big gorgeous thing of bronze and steel, The Satanic Temple has already brought her to Arkansas' state capitol- *smiles* S'where I spent most of yesterday afternoon, sweltering away at the unveiling(93 degrees fahrenheit in the shade, UGH!), and we've already cast the lawsuit.
Though what you say is indeed very true. The good, non-violent, sweet christian folke of the state turned up in a sizable amount to shout at us with megaphones, block traffic and cry about how evil we were and we were going to hell and such other merry melodies. Several approached some of our speakers while they were onstage shouting rather lurid things, threats even and police politely escorted the poor persecuted souls away. There was talk of someone with a gun being snagged by police but I can neither confirm nor deny that...
Oh- and yes, the new christian ten commandments monument has a series of cement barricades around it. Not only that, but yesterday, rather conveniently the day our rally was being held at the capitol, their monument was also cordoned off with twenty feet high of fencing and cones "for routine scheduled maintenance".
I guess graven images are important to "god" after all...

Oh my, if that sucka ever went up, some folks would just plain lose their minds! The country had been sold out to the Devil. There could be no other interpretation. They'd be lining up to stand in front of it with their signs and Bibles shouting of the random evils that led to this point, I can imagine.
Well, happy to hear you made it out safe and sound, and the police were on your side, or at least did their job. Not my idea of a fun afternoon
I'm just stumped at the barriers around the 10 Commendments, though. I'd place my bets on the Christian side having the violent ones likely to damage a monument.

Either the Commandments monument should go or put up that one you're talking about.
The Temple's point exactly, love.
In Arkansas, a very religious state, that would be difficult to do and would likely be defaced or vandalized. It's as you'll need security at it for a while at the start.
Oh, living here, I'm well aware of the lovely religious tone of far too many of the citizenry. The poor persecuted christians did show up at the rally yesterday to shout at us in megaphones and harass our speakers, even their own christian pastors who sided with us due to their beliefs in the first amendment. One lovely gentlemen had some pleasant things to shout at him about before the police escorted him away. Still, surrendering to fear and threats is what their religion is about, not us.
