I had a call like that once with Gamestop when I called them asking if they sold mod chips. Then again, at the time I was too young to grasp that mod chips were illegal on the grounds that I knew other kids who had modded systems. I thought they were just an accessory like any other for expanding a console's capabilities, like how a cheating device can be used to expand what can be done in a game.

I mean it wasn't like I didnt know how to pirate movies, you just can't ask me while i'm on the clock

Reminds me of another Gamestop situation where I was trading in a game, but one of the clerks wanted it. However, because of store policy he wasn't allowed to personally buy it directly from me, so we had to step outside and to the side of the store to make the transaction where he paid me cash equal to what I would've gotten for store credit trading the game.
