Ynk's had chosen a spot in the forest which was pretty far from the path to be sure he wouldn't hurt anyone. Experimenting with his power was one of Ynk's favorite pass-times. He loved trying new things, discovering new Signs, playing with old ones, making constructs to test his limits...
Right now, he was working on his Fulmea Sign, the one who allowed him to summon lightning. He was trying to see if he could control the lightnings to an extend. Summoning them was easy and he could kinda make them hit where he wanted but it wasn't very precise and the target needed to be pretty big. So now, he was trying to see if he could direct the power of his Signs with his hands, which would greatly increase his precision.
"Ok... let's try again." said the dämdrönian.
Moving his tail expertly, he drew the Fulmea Sign just in front of him, a little on the left; as soon as he was done, a lightning was beside him, crackling and sparkling. The good thing with elements created with Sign, is that Ynk could control them to an extend, just with his will. This way, he could avoid being armed by his how spells. This was the opportunity to see how much control he had over that aspect of his power.
Focusing as much as he could, he will the lightning not to hurt him as he touched it with his bare hand. It worked... kinda: the electricity spreads up Ynk's arm, reaching his shoulder; it didn't actually hurt but the tingling in his arm was so strong, it almost felt like it did. Honestly, the dämdrönian was amazed to still be alive after doing that exercise twice, it maybe have been a lightning created by magic but it still was a real lightning!
Gritting his teeth, the brushtail grunted and shoved his sparkling hand toward a big stone several meters away. The thunder wasn't as loud as a real one but it sure noisy! The lightning, however, didn't hit the rock and instead grazed a tree close to it, removing some bark from it and leaving a burning mark.
"Fuck!" sword Ynk, shaking his arm to remove the annoying and almost painful sensation in his left arm, "It's harder to control lightning that fire or wind."
A few weeks ago, he had tried to do the same with the wind and fire. The first had been pretty easy, the annoying part being that if he didn't controlled the wind correctly, it would mess with his fur. The fire had been more dangerous and the first time he tried to control it with his hands, he burned his fur! It took him a whole week to learn to control the fire well enough to avoid burning his pelage, even though he could nothing for the heat.
Now, the lightning was even harder to control than the fire because he just had a hard time ignoring the painful tingling sensation it did when the electricity ran in his arm. Probably, he would just have to learn how to ignore the pain.
"Ok... Let's try again..." muttered the brushtail.
For the third time, he drew the Sign of the lightning and for the third time, a powerful sparkling came to be. This time, while maintaining his focus to keep the bolt in check, Ynk quickly grabbed it, and as quickly as he could, threw it toward the stone. His mind pictured the deadly element hitting the rock with all its power and, surprisingly, it hit, accompanied by the usual thunder noise.
There was a big scorch mark on the rock now and Ynk's arm, even though it was still tingling, hurt a little less than before. A big smile on his face, the ringtail did a little celebratory dance on a music only he could hear.
