So, once the main character and her little critter entourage make it up the mountain, they find a big cave. It's pretty dark inside, but one of them is sharp enough to notice a red glowing light from within. Bat goes to investigate, and suddenly... the nightmare appears. He's essentially a big, boney mass held together by shadow; it drips and flows over his more solid parts and melds/pulls from the darkness around it. Needless to say everyone is freaked out; I would be too if I were them!
