The great plains of Faltad may be my favourite place in Aevar, marvelous creatures live there and the tribes that live there have taught me many things. One of the most fascinating creatures there is the “rohon” or “lumbering hill”.
These behemoths may appear like a geological formation from the distance but as soon as you get close the shape of the beast becomes apparent, their gigantic horns are usually chipped as they use them to show dominance and their humps are covered by vegetation as they spend great periods of time resting at ground level and time has made their humps home of various small mammals and plants that only can be found on them.
The tribes of the plains learned long ago to tame this colossus and build great tents on them in order to live their nomadic life, how these tribes have managed to tame time is a mystery that they refuse to tell me, but I theorise some kind of magic is abound.
In one of my expeditions I faced one of these animals that had gone mad, and a tribe was willing to accept my help in exchange of a dinner. We had to take it down with use of explosives and a particular poison made of particular plants of the plains, which are safe for any other creature. After we took it down they butchered it and organized a feast in honor of the battle. The meat was hard to cut but once prepared properly was surprisingly tasty. The skin and horns was resistent but too heavy to carry around with me.
