Lacking a permanent job and a permanent home, Amelia mainly stays where she can around Almont, doing whatever jobs people will be willing to pay for or, failing that, has found pretty good success as a literal cat burglar. Some of the less savory circles in town are pretty well aware of her skills, so if the right people are looking for her and the price is right, you'd have a very good "employee" on her hands. Those same circles have learned that it's definitely best to not try and double-cross her.

Luckily for Ames, she generally skirts the line pretty well between doing jobs that are personally lucrative without doing anything high profile enough to make any truly dangerous enemies. While she doesn't really hate her lifestyle or what she does, though, she's never able to fully shake the feeling that there's something important missing...
