Well, I kinda fell off the wagon today after trying not to buy any more console radios. I actually bought two of these units, but one was only good for parts due to a damaged cabinet and missing record changer. I salvaged as much as I could from that one. An added bonus was found when I finally got the stuck, right lower door opened to discover the original owner's manual and the instruction sheet for the RCA phonograph selector box that is mounted on the back. I've read some pretty good things about these GE AM-FM units, so I hope this one turns out good. I almost bought a working one about 7 years back and it seemed to be a good radio and these things lack the crappy rubber wire Zenith had at the same time.

Thanks! I have a decent dial off the parts unit that I might pop into this one. Both were in Dean's back room and this one was actually buried under a junk postwar Philco and other items. Hopefully, this radio turns out good as I plan on putting it to use down at the house once I clear a couple dead radios out of my room. :)
I'd love to see that color ad. :D

Oh, that is very nice! Thank you! I finally got the good 417A apart this evening and the guts are loaded and ready to, hopefully, head up to Dean's tomorrow for repairs. Someone at GE must have been in a bad mood when mine was built. There are two hammer in type staples used to hold the phonograph wires in place and one was REALLY driven in tight! Right through the other side of the board!
Oh, I meant to mention that if you do scan the ad and try to email it to me, that my email is now simbalion0[at]yahoo.com I think I mentioned it in a journal entry a while back, but am not sure.
