:: Again, sorry about the gray bars. I did what I could to lessen them as much as I could. ::
Remember, these are my dragon species/designs. I would ask that you not use them for yourself without first asking me for permission!
Among the mighty and majestic dragons of Horva, none is more adorable then the Amethyst Fairy! These dragons, averaging about the size of a standard riding horse, are the smallest dragon species. (Barring of course, pseudo-dragons and the rare, possibly extinct standard Fairy Dragon, both of which are sought out by mages and even clerics of good alignment as companions.) These dragons are not covered in scales, but rather soft, silky fur. Some have plain pelts, while others have spots, stripes, or other markings. Amethyst Fairy coats are generally deep, rich purple, just like the precious stone they are named after. Their delicate-looking butterfly wings tend to shimmer with many different colors.
Amethyst Fairies tend to live in family groups, consisting of anywhere from 2-10+ individuals. These dragons love nature and are known to tend wild plants, especially berry bushes and fruit trees. The Amethyst Fairy is the only known species of dragon that is strictly vegetarian. Meat, raw or cooked, can damage their incredibly delicate digestive system. Amethyst Fairies enjoy sweet foods in particular, the highly dangerous Mothberry, is the absolute favorite.
These elusive dragons shy away from big cities and development and seclude themselves deep in the forests of Horva. While they tend to the landscaping in their territory, collecting any rare and valuable trinkets that they may come across, Amethyst Fairies are quite mischievous by nature and spend a lot of their time plotting their next big prank. These playful dragons do not discriminate! They will prank each other, other dragons, and travelers passing through their forests. Pranks pulled by Amethyst Fairies are never harmful, but they can lead to some confusion. A favorite prank is creating Hallucinatory Terrain over bodies of large, but shallow water. Once foul play has been discovered by the victim, they can often hear the playful giggling of these dragons! While pranks are a favorite pastime, there is a time and a place for it. If a person wondering through the woods looks genuinely lost and terrified, Amethyst Fairies have been known to lead these individuals to safety, be it out of the woods or back to the colony. Overall, Amethyst Fairies have a happy, carefree, and cheerful disposition. These dragons are known to take the forms of elves, small song birds, and forest dwelling animals, usually squirrels or foxes.
Amethyst Fairies are very creative and like to keep busy. Many are marvelous gardeners, there are other individuals that are wonderful artists, though there are some colonies that have taken craftsmanship to the next level. Scattered about Horva, mostly in volcanic valleys near thick, dense forests, are vineyards and orchards and even small farms that are run by these dragons. The wines, craft beers, and fine cheeses these Amethyst Fairy families create is beyond exquisite and said to rival the wines made by elves and the beers brewed by dwarves. Colonies of Amethyst Fairies choose their real estate based on their neighbors; Ruby Coronas are very fond of Amethyst Fairies living nearby because they ALWAYS have a steady flow of their favorite wines nearby and in their hoards. Amethyst Fairies enjoy living nearby Ruby Coronas because they are pleasant neighbors and tend to dissuade marauders and miscreants.
Don't let the cute, cuddly, and playful nature of the Amethyst Fairy fool you! These small dragons are quite capable of defending themselves in battle. Not only do they have fangs and claws like sharp needles, but like all Horvian Dragons, they can breathe fire. But, their main offense is actually an effective defense! Due to a diet rich in Mothberries, which have devastating hallucinatory effects on any other being that eats them, Amethyst Fairies have developed another breath weapon. When agitated, these dragons expel a large cloud of sweet-smelling pink gas that can render those affected by it higher then a kite and completely helpless without drawing a drop of blood. The effect can be so powerful, it can last for several days on smaller foes, and even large demons can find themselves a bit tipsy and craving junk food after a face-full of the pink gas. Amethyst Fairies are immune to the effects of poisons and have little trouble seeing right through illusions.
However, Amethyst Fairies don't have thick scales like other dragons to protect their lightweight bodies, so they tend to avoid combat whenever possible. Cold, enchanted weapons crafted out of iron are their worst fear.
Garna Riverdale, the Leader of the Wolf Pack Thieves' Guild and owner of The Knight Club, gets most of her wines and alcoholic beverages from a small, family business run by a group of Amethyst Fairies.
While Ruby Coronas are the preferred draconic neighbor, Emerald Novas, Opal Eclipses, Tectonic Titans, and on the rare occasion, Ebony Star Chasers are welcomed as well.
Due to their smaller size, an Amethyst Fairy cannot carry a large rider in full armor. Typically, should one of these dragons choose to take a rider, it would most likely be an elven scout or female zwetoock.
