I couldn't tell you exactly what the custom is, but essentially everyone in Valencia goes to the beach at midnight on the summer solstice and jumps in the water. My friends and I cought wind of this during our couple day excursion from Barcelona and of course had to investigate. For educational purposes. . . Right.
Anyways, I took a variety of pictures. People were burning tons of stuff on the beach, and there were hundreds upon hundreds of people in the water. I liked the way this picture depicted the scene though, so I thought I'd upload it. One estimate placed the number of people along the approximately five miles of beaches at 250,000. I believe it.

A lot of tourist places in Paris will not let you bring tripods, but both times we went into the catacombs we got away with it, but at the Arc De Triumph they said no, so as you do we just rested the camera against some of the walls and platforms.
