Okay, so this one is technically still a Flight Rising portrait, but it's a particular favorite, so I thought it deserved its own little title. I posted this to Twitter a while back and it got a shocking amount of circulation, which was super flattering, and even now I'm extremely proud of this kiddo's design. She's one of my personal spirals, a delicate girl named Cabochon, who happens to be some manner of living opalized petrified wood through the power of magic. Opal has always been a favorite stone of mine, both for personal reasons (it's my birthstone!) and because of its breathtaking variation, color, and shine. No piece is ever quite the same as any other. Trying to capture the flakes of iridescence in her semiprecious parts was a super fun challenge!
