Here's my take on the scene where Honest John was introduced.
Bridget wasn't affected by his breath because she's Irish. :)

How exactly is it racist?..most ethnic stereotypes are based off at least a grain of truth anywho.
Yeah I agree, as anthro rodent babes go Bridget is one of the more underrated anthro characters of the animation renaissance era.
Though to me, from the film itself, she has always appeared to be somewhat closer to being a dirty blonde from my perspective, probably a false perception based on the slightly faded looking color from the screencap and the fact that I have never witnessed this feature in high definition, not to mention as of yet my only visual exposure to American Tail has been mainly from CN broadcasts and VHS viewings and I can't believe I still have yet to watch it on DVD I've all the way through despite having had a copy for several years now.
I'd also like to say that female redheaded cartoon characters do oftentimes tend to be very exceptional for me As I have a strong aversion to being involved with any redheaded women IRL.
And ^this is due to my already being at least half Irish, consequentially having somewhat brownish red hair myself, the more infamous stereotypical negative personality traits that (female) redheads are often known for, and more importantly for the fact that redheads around the world are allegedly becoming an exotic dying breed, apparently due to very recessive weak genes. For that very reason I always feel the need to concern myself with the possibility that any redheaded woman (regardless of how exotic they're becoming as a result of this) could already potentially be a close (or at least not distant enough for comfort) relative of mine.

I was jokingly referring to Dutch's comment about the Irish immunity to alcohol breath.
You haven't seen An American Tail all the way through on DVD? You're a deprived soul, my friend. That's required viewing for every furry out there. I was too young to get the Irish immigrant reference that Bridget symbolized, when I first saw it. I just thought she was a cute mouse babe, which she is. As for redheads, I dated one a while back. She lived the stereotype and I had a great time with her. So if you meet one, don't say no.

I know, I just trying to get in on the joke with my addition of an over analytical hyperbolic response.
Yeah I should try watching it all the way through sometime, I think I've seen Secret Of NIMH, LBT, All Dogs Go To Heaven and even Fivel Goes West on DVD already but still not the original
Personally I find LBT to be superior to Bluth's other movies and still consider it his greatest, not to mention that the original American Tail always feels somewhat diminished for me by it's seemingly superior sequel in Fivel Goes West (despite Bluth having no involvement ) , which I had already seen several times first and I have always personally liked slightly more if for no other reason then simply because of my strong affinity for Cat R Waul (the John Clesse voiced character) and the fact that he was a more solid memorable villain than whoever the main antagonist was in the first movie ..there, you see, I can't really remember!
Thanks for your advice, though it doesn't really matter seeing as I'm not in any kind of proper position in my life to be pursuing relationships right now, in any case I've always preferred brunettes and other dark types of dark haired women considerably more, but thanks for the advice anyway!

..Oh boy! better watch out! she could be the next Asia Argento..of furries
No!..no!..I'm sorry..I'm just kidding around! ..that honor more rightfully goes to 1980s Cheetara ..or perhaps maybe Jenny from Bucky O'Hare
I'm sorry that^ was very very wrong of me, but once again I just..had to.
On a serious note though; actual real life female on male sexual predation, grooming and female pedophilia are most definitely not a laughing matter.

I can agree them two characters are good choices for furries. Also, don't worry, I'm not like that in real life, it's more like I have certain ideas for pairings when it comes to cartoon characters, but the characters varies at times because there's a lot of them. Don't worry, I'm not like that in real life at all, just someone who has a thing for cartoons.
Relax, don't worry about it! I wasn't even making any such suggestion. I was only making a rather morbid humorous light of one of the recent highly ironic events, revelations and allegations that have been brewing in Hollywood as of late and whatever ridiculous parallels I could draw between that and this.
I personally don't really care or am bothered much at all about the subject of furry cartoon and/or other fantasy character couplings with significant age development differences, so long as they're not based off real life people or exploiting real life situations I don't think it should even have to be a legal issue IMHO.
But if you want my honest opinion I for one think the whole thing is stupid and pointless and there shouldn't be any laws against it, I know plenty of people on this site that have alluded to producing under the table relationship between adults and older consenting minors, they keep deliberately vague about the exact ages of their fictional characters in order to avoid getting an unwanted suspension, but because most of these characters already more physically human adults anyway the issues are usually marginal at most. More often they involve well developed teens in fictional societies that would often recognize legal age majority much earlier age or where characters naturally mature much fast than actual people do in the real world anyway, this issue of concern gets especially ridiculous when one considers that fact that non-human or humanoid fictional fantasy creatures that resemble no actual real life person are the topic at hand.

Oh, than that's good to know. As for Hollywood, well, I've heard of what's been going on out there and I must say that working in Hollywood is sounding like it's not much of a dream come true, sure it may sound exciting and fun, but Hollywood over the years is starting to sound like it's the opposite of fun and exciting.
I actually agree with what you said there, sounds harmless enough.
Again, I agree with you on what you told me. People make such a big deal on the tiniest, teeniest and smallest of things, even on this site. I can understand people don't want to get into hot water with anyone from what they post on here but the people who seem to nit pick at anything people post on here and make such a big deal out of it act as though someone is trying to bring the end of the world or something when it's just someone posting fan fiction, fandom art and stories and kinky erotic stories and art from furry fandom that's been around for decades. And some people act as though it's a crime or something. You have to admit, those who make a big deal out of nothing like that on here need to lighten up and realize it's not having anything to do with real life or anything involving it. All it really is about is people posting fictional art and stories. Is it hurting anyone when people post stories or art on here, not really, some people out there are just looking for a reason to start something. I've seen similar events like that happen before and if you ask me, these people who start something that is negative need to leave people alone, they're like kill joys and they're killing what gives us joy and fun in our lives.
Forgive me if any of this is offensive.

At first I thought Bluth (or Spielberg, Freudberg, Kirschner etc./whoever handled most of the ideas) was being unoriginal with use of a name like 'Honest John' in this feature, mainly because the name also happens to be shared with the pseudo anthro fox conman character from Disney's 1940 version of Pinnochio, but after reading
's comment it became clear that use of the name is probably based off of that very same actual person from the gilded age he mentioned, thus the name obviously would not be righted to any one author or studio, so use of or reference to name the actual person/caricature has probably been used and re-used in fiction multiple times over the years.

In response to
's comment about Fivel lacking any ethinicity based alcohol tolerance levels; it should be stated that the Mouskevitz's are actually supposed to be "Shostkan/Severian Ukrainian Russian Jews", which is not technically the same thing, being a bit more nuanced than merely being simply "Russian", or possessing the ethno-cultural stereotypes they're known for. Though if we're being honest with ourselves here, we're really only talking about a fictionalized historical world where subsets of rodents and various other animals have simply emulated/replicated a microcosm of the culture, language, behavior and to some degree civilization of the humans that they most regionally identify with :i: (as would appear to be the common methodical trope off all Don Bluth anthropomorphic fiction) :/i: ..but I digress.
With that aside, take into consideration that the tropes of regional ethnic origin in Don Bluth's worlds don't always appear to consistently play a role in determining how significantly human hosts will be emulated by their accompanying rodent and/or feline pseudo-anthro counterparts.
Thus one could say that it's probably unlikely that any rodent family appearing to be particularly religious would risk allow themselves to become enamored with any kind of substance addiction, as it would seem that a need for survival instincts in that particular region in which they originally reside at that time in history would require a natural high alert attentiveness, keeping their wits about them at all times, thus a natural affinity or adaption to inebriation is probably something that "Russian Jewish" mice living in 1880s northern Ukraine would almost certainly have no use for.
