Clockwork has the power to stop time relative to himself. He is free to act normally but the rest of the world is frozen between the ticks of the clock. His ability to interact with the world in this state is limited and he can only hold time still for about six seconds before the strain becomes too great but he's very good at making the most of his "time out". Clockwork is also a technological genius who designed and created the armor and weapons that he carries, both of which have all manner of features built into them.

Clockwork used to be one of the bad guys, brainwashed by telepathic means into becoming a ruthless killing machine. But a chance encounter with another telepath scrambled his mental conditioning and restored his true personality. However, his true personality is shy, reserved, and uncertain. A definite contrast to the artificial one. From time to time vestiges of his other self will emerge but he tries his best to suppress it, lest he go back to the way he was. Unfortunately, it's this "killer instinct" that makes him effective at what he does.

As a trivia note, his rifle is actually the plasma rifle from the original Doom. Some of his armor components can be found in City of Heroes.
