Check it out! I just received a promotion, it is not Corporal anymore, it is now Staff Sargent! I even got some distinctions!
N.B.: I know the fact that wearing a Marine uniform shocked a few american people before... As I said, I do enjoy the look of this uniform and I never did anything wrong except wearing it maybe... Though, I do not live in the states and I've got this uniform from an active Marine. Someone once got really upset because of that but most people enjoy it when I look like this.

Well, you should be proud as it is a tribute to your brave soldiers risking their lives days after days trying to make the world better... Honestly, I don't care about the military at all, I hate war... For me it is only a nice costume with nice colors on it and it could have been from any country... There is no such law prohibiting to wear a U.S. Military Uniform here. Too bad if you don't agree!
It's mainly because that is the active uniform and technically it's illegal and insulting to use an active uniform be Class A, B, or C for things like this.
I wasn't in the Marines so can't say, but because I was in the Army, I can tell you that BDU's are okay to act out in, but with ACU's, unless there's a reason, probably not a good idea. Epically since there are a lot of young hot headed vets out their now.

I understand why the guy went off. TECHNICALLY, it is impersonation. I frankly could care less, but I do suggest, if you want to avoid anymore conflict or if someone comes up to you and starts badgering you about it, take off the rank/ribbons/name plate/unit specification and have a bare uniform. Then they can't say anything.
Well, since I am not in the United-States, this doesn't apply much here... Anyway, that kind of uniform is commonly found in mu=ilitary surplus here and not only American uniforms, you can get even ex-U.R.S.S. stuff too... It would have been the case in U.S.A. or with a Canadian Armed Forces uniform... Even in that case it seems to be not too much of a problem... I didn't have any name tag on it though. I got this uniform complete from a someone in the states because it was complete, I'm not going to remove anything from it. If I find something looking as good as it I will put it away but so far that the best uniform I have. That was special though in front of the U.S. consulate...
I get your point though it wasn't even complete, missing the saber, boots, gloves and cover. I've got those too except for the real saber which is impossible to get unless you are in the service and earned it. I did wear it once completely and I attracted attention to me outside in the street though it was for a friend party, I wasn't supposed to be outside. Anyway, this is a touchy subject, like many other things, some people will like, some other won't.
I personally would rather you not, but I'm not going to tell you to not or be a dick about it. It kinda just stems from the fact that you don't know all the rules and regulations from it, and you aren't a part of it either.
Then again, people wear police uniforms doesn't bother me, so I think I'm just all in a hype about the military. It's cool though. I'm just adding my personal feelings into it.
I don't know what it is about your suit, but it just goes so well with the uniform. If you could attach the wings and the cap, that'd be amazing.

Well, I would have to cut holes trough the jacket in the back and I would feel bad to damage such a nice uniform... Though one day maybe I'll find something which looks very good on me too as a partial and which I will be able to modify without any remorse. Until then, I will try to not offend too many people with this military outfit. They shouldn't have made such nice uniforms too, I wouldn't have got one!
I am a marine. I own my own set of dress blues. I understand where some people would get angry for you wearing it, it took me a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to get/earn mine. But I also understand its just a picture, and as long as your not telling anyone your a real marine as you wear it, then I don't see much of a problem per se'. A lot of people collect our dress blues, I think its more flattering then an insult that they like and want them so much. Just be careful what you do in public if your going to wear them any. Misrepresenting us can be a scary road ><
It does matter BECAUSE you could have just posted a single comment on this photo. Instead you had the audacity to reply randomly on comments of which one of them was mine. I don't see you replying on any others aside the other two you've replied to of which one is also a Marine. THIS is not between you and me, THIS is between you and the person who posted the photo. It wouldn't make a difference if he got it from a Military surplus store or found it in an old locked up trunk. It's his and he can do whatever he wants with it. So enough with the "he didn't earn it!"
My only intention is to wear this uniform when I put my suit on as a partial and I do intend as well to keep it in very good shape. I've seen a lot of strange things already and especially here and I understand some of your worries, though this is not going to happen with me!
I just saw this... pic. It looks good but I have only one negative thing to say about it. You are a Staff Sergeant, on your third contract, yet you have so few ribbons. I am on my second and a lower rank, but I still have more than you;) I wonder if you could get more? It's really a cool idea! Congratulations on the promotion But I like your suit better without the uniform But that may be cause I have to wear it....
Hehehe, I do get your point the way you explain it though I am not in the military myself... I could probably look for more ribbons but that's not a priority for me! Congratulations on the second contract as I heard it was 4 years per contract! Finally, I prefer my complete look too, it's just that it is how I dress when I do not have the room or the help to help me with the body suit. Also, it might sound odd but it is not as hot in my complete costume than it can get in this uniform!
Do you wear a white t-shirt underneath? That really helps out. That is the real way to wear it also if you didn't know. And thanks for the congrats for my reenlistment. Hurray me, another 3 years in the suck. I got my fur suit on base. Imagine if they find out... oh god... Can you imagine runnign around base with it!!!!
I wear a cotton T-shirt under the tan shirt which was part of the uniform though all my t-shirt are either navy blue or black... As for your suit on the base, dang I don't know what they would do to do or how they would react on an American base though as far as I would think here it would be hilarious!
I guess I will find out what happens when the find it. But yeah, you are not supposed to wear the tan shirt underneath. Just a white t-shirt. The tan shirt should be a long sleeve but goes to another uniform called Service Alpha's. The tan shirt on the dress blues is againast uniform regulations. That should help you keep cool in the unitform
Oh well, I have been given the wrong information the first time but now I shall listen to a real Marine, you! I shall no longer wear the shirt under the jacket, unless I would have to remove the jacket so I could keep only the trousers and the shirt, should be cooler that way indeed! Thanks!
Um, not super importaint, but it looks like some of your ribbons may be out of order. If you go to http://kepler.pratt.duke.edu/USNRibbons.html
And click the ribbons you have, they put them in correct order in a GIF image for you.

Well, thank you Sir! ...And to answer your question, I actually received this whole uniform including the cover and the gloves complete, as you see it there... The ribbons were already on it as well as the service stripes. Lucky me, it was exactly my size, even the cover and got the whole kit in very decent shape at a very fair price in New Jersey.
As a Marine wife yeah, I do kinda take offense to that. If you didn't earn the uniform its not yours to wear. You didn't EARN it. And it's INCREDIBLY disrespectful to the Military, the Marines and the men who earned it. You have any idea what those guys go through to be able to wear the blues?
...Then you should tell that to the former USMC who's selling those on eBay. You can also buy these brand new at a lot of uniform stores too. Those guys are supposedly fighting for the same freedom that allows me to wear it without impersonating the real deal. By the way, isn't it the ceremonial sword which is promoted as being earn and not given?
It's not just the sword, its the entire title of being a Marine. How would you know? You're not a Marine, you're not even from the states. You have no idea how much the Marines pride themselves on respect and earning everything they've got. And if you went through 3 months of boot camp and the Crucible and everything else that these men and women go through to earn what you so falsely flaunt around maybe you'd actually have some respect for what these guys gobthrough to earn that. Doesn't matter if you can buy it online, you should have had the decency not to wear it because it's disrespectful to our military. So unless you tell people IN SUIT or whenever you wear it that you're not a Marine when people so falsely go up and thank you for service you didn't do then you have no business wearing the uniform. If you like the uniform so badly come to America and EARN it yourself. Always earned, never given. And if you knew anything you'd know that there are no "former" Marines.
Go argue with those Marines in the comments above who thought it was actually cool. Anyway, I've been in the states for quite a few years and if you truly believe in what you say above, you should also know that the constitution allows for the freedom of expression for everyone, which is what the United-States and its Marines Corps are fighting to protect. I understand that and respect that! I'm not sure I'm the one who needs a civic lesson now...
