Moving a few speedpaints over from deviantArt at the request of Steinwill.
I'm gonna put these in scraps but at the same time, I'd like to call attention to the fact that I drew this about 3 months ago and this was as good as I could do with digital lineart. A few changes of software and I've come a helluva long way with it if I do say so myself. :D
I don't actually know who sees scraps on FA so uh... I guess I might find out?

Third in my series of linearted speedpaints is a request from SteinWill for Shaka doing a takedown on some unfortunate guard. This precipitated an interesting conversation about what kind of takedowns actually work and which ones are just Hollywood. If you can sleeper-hold someone, how long do you have to stuff them in a sound-proofed closet before they come after you? When is it justified to just shoot the bugger or cut his throat?
I think Shaka would follow my reasoning on the last one. If it's a conscript, a police officer or a security guard just doing their job and hoping to go home to their family at the end of their shift, then a "good" character should leave him unconscious, stuffed in a locker, in a compromising position with three of his colleagues. But if it's a terrorist ultra, a commissar, a gangster or someone else who would probably hang for their crimes if the world were just anyway, might as well just speed up the process a bit and stick a knife in 'em. I'm not actually sure which category this comes under. Knife-hand to the throat is like a Deus-Ex "Nonlethal" takedown, where the guard might wake up wishing he'd died immediately. I drew the regime soldier a bit like a Soviet because it was the first thing to come to mind. I don't like commies very much.
Again, pretty damn pleased with the result. I think I'll chalk up another one on my streak of decently-drawn facial expressions and interesting poses. Shaka's spots are the coolest thing by the way. I love drawing those.

Wow, digging through my ancient scraps? Guess I didn't post the other ones, I just copied the description from dA.
First two are here https://www.deviantart.com/illogica.....aint-737587428 https://www.deviantart.com/illogica.....aint-737747654
These were my first real attempts at lined digital since about 2005
