NOTE: I'm posting this story a second time, just to see if it comes out glitch-free in the .rtf format. If, on the other hand, it comes out just as badly as the version in the .txt format (or even worse), I'm discarding this second presentation into the 'scraps' section. So, please be patient... - RC <^_^>
Back in the 1990s, when I was a contributor to "The Dallas Brawl Update", all I had sent in were drawings of my bobcat 'fursona', teamed up with many other characters who were 'regulars' of this digest-sized publication, drawn by such familiar anthroartists like...

and many others. But in all that time I submitted material to "DBU", never once did I ever think about writing stories (with teamed-up characters), like some of its usual writers such as...
Leoni 2,
MarmelMM, Philip B. Smith (my close friend from Reading, PA), etc.
Since moving down to Florida, and discovering the Internet, I finally allowed my creative juices to flow, and wrote 'funny animal' stories for the first time, in spite of the fact that "DBU" had ceased publication. I'd found alternate venues for my literary works - the most prominent website of which being "Alden's Story Locker", with several 'furry inflation' and 'fat furry' tales. (Look for the link to this site on my home page, and click on 'guest stars' at the bottom of the next page, when you arrive at "ASL".)
Of course, now that I'm a member of "Fur Affinity", the potential of writing all new stories - teaming up characters from its thousands of other artists and writers - is there.
I'd submitted my first effort in 2008, when I'd teamed up my bobcat 'fursona' with WolfGoneWide in the three-part 'fat furry' story "Toying Around".
But this year, I thought I'd offer a cautionary tale that I'm NOT even in. Instead, the principal characters are 'Rocky' the rhino and 'Hubert' the hippo, paired off against a very unlikely adversary - and a character that 'Rob Cat' tangled with back in the old "DBU" days* - 'Demon' the magic toon squirrel. With the permission of these characters' creators, I'd brought them all together for this tour de farce, which could also be deemed as a 21st Century fable (like those of Aesop, only in greater detail and without a moral).
I sincerely hope you all enjoy it...
