The Kirk Method was when he was a cadet, which was a touch before her time in officer training. ;)
As for her solution, there's not a lot to solve– as soon as you issue any commands like "evasive maneuvers" that person's panel explodes. XD She did get bonus points for sending a message back to Starfleet indicating that she was entering the NZ on her own authority and a scanning probe in ahead, but of course since the scenario cheats its readings were spoofed to be consistent with "damaged freighter off course."
