Squall the Tempest Cleric [PA]
Did this about two weeks ago, and it is probably the first thing in two months that I haven't wanted to shred, so...progress?
This is the first sketch of my Kenku tempest cleric, Squall. A worshiper of Akadi, she is now part of a ragtag group of adventures travelling through the dangerous jungles of Chult, in search for a cure for 'the death curse' that is plaguing Faerun.
Squall is middle age at the start of the adventure, and a good mix of humor and maturity, with some temper that can come out. After all, most followers of the tempest have some fierce emotions, even if they don't show them on the surface!
She's also got a neat vibe for a cleric- instead of the mace or hammer feel with some spell casting, she uses finesse weapons and casting. Definitely dex>str here. Which, while I tend to do that for characters that aren't strength focused anyway, makes sense, since kenku are usually pretty nimble. Also she's middle age, but fit, which tends to translate to more wiry muscle vs bulk, *and* birds have hollow bones. Also I just wanted to shake up my own mental image of clerics!
The rest of our party consists of-
-Mist, the Tabaxi ranger
-Kaalil, the Aarakocra wizard
-Dax, the Goblin fighter
-and a nameless Firbolg celestial warlock
with
as our DM!
It's nice starting with a lvl 1 character, after playing a lot of high power stuff for a while. Definitely getting that back to basics feel going, which is welcome every now and again.
Side note- Kenku are pretty interesting, and learning to rp with the speech restrictions has been fascinating. I'm excited to delve more into Tomb of Annihilation! This is during our Sunday sessions, and previously we'd been playing Curse of Strahd. Tomb is still high stakes, but has a lot of exploration and survival components, as opposed to horror and depravity lol. Don't get me wrong, I TOTALLY expect I'll be terrified at parts later in the campaign. Hell, I already have been. But at least we had dino races! :D
Anyway, that's enough rambling for now.
