Wiwiip (wee-weep) is a polar avian, standing at a comparatively massive four feet tall and weighing in at 48 pounds, the heaviest of the flying avian species. Polars are quite rare off the avian home planet– for one they’re a lot less populous than the skimmer avians, for second they’re not from a cultural background eager to leave the comforts of the tundra and fling themselves off into the void. Wiwiip is a loud, proud exception to most of the rules, though. They hail from a small terraformed bubble of “Carnalist” subculture avians, and they work as a community organizer, tailor, and jeweler. Wiwiip is also trans, which is very taboo among skimmer avians– they’re lucky that polars don’t have a prominent featherless crest, so all they need to pass and avoid harassment outside their bubble is dark face makeup.

Wiwiip hails from a group most literally translated as “Carnalists” or “meat-lovers,” which refers to their embracing of sexual freedom, body modification, and hedonism. They frequently wear clothing as tight and skimpy as they can (or can’t) get away with under decency laws– Wiwiip here is fond of exposing a lot of neck, which has definitely gotten them kicked out of restaurants in the past. The subculture is also very accepting of queer avians, with a style of dress that doesn’t change much between sexes and spiritual beliefs about souls being fluid and androgynous. The colors they wear and pattern aesthetic they use to decorate also reflects the subculture name, as magenta is the color of spilt blood and orange is the color of bare flesh (which is associated with violence too, because you never see pale skin on an avian unless you’re plucking them!) In human terms Carnalists are like… goth hippies. They’re also mostly anarchists and communists.
