It was always like this. He'd be working on something and of course, without any sort of warning, you'd come barging in asking about an update on how the pit bots were doing, or how the sentry droid was coming along. Even worse, you broke your cybernetic arm.
Again.
Joseph had a hard time finding the seclusion they needed on such a busy ship. He appreciated his Captain in a myriad of ways- chief among them being her understanding of him on an intrinsic level, having had a very similar identity crisis, but everybody else kept bothering him with stuff- even if they understood the distance he wanted more often than not.
He begrudgingly but calmly asks you what you need, to which you immediately reply that you were wondering..

Ah, Joseph Burnham. My reclusive (first) transman cybernetics and robotics specialist. He's your boy for fixing any machine that thinks, has limbs, or could hope to have a personality- which one may consider an interesting dichotomy and conflict with his character. Something I quite like.
Art is done by the extremely talented
as usual! We've got a few more and boy am I excited to compile them all into a folder and whatnot. These characters are brought to life by Nemurase in ways I've never seen before.
This is why I love commissioning artists. Everybody has a different take on your characters, and Nemurase nailed Joseph better than I think anybody else possibly could have. He didn't shy away from the somber atmosphere the character might exude.
What a wonderfully developed personality just by one image. Nemurase knew my character better than I, the character's creator, did.
