Now in my last posting http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2821173/ I had commented that one of the reasons Siegfried the Ice Lord had come to Andur was to meet a particular female mage named Jedel. He'd heard all kinds of amazing and outlandish tales about her and was curious to learn what was fact and what was fiction.
For her part Jedel was rather uncertain what to make of Siegfried. The white rat mage is obviously a person of great importance amongst his people, and he had demostrated both an excellent understanding of magic and the power to put that knowledge to good use. But outside of her initial formal introductions at Sultan's Palace she knows almost nothing of this newcomer, and what she had seen had given the impression that Siegfried was rather stoic, reserved, and serious individual. In effect the opposite of Jedel's personality.
So to break the ice, so to speak, with the Ice Lord she decided on her own initiative to extend him a welcome hand and offer him some ice cream. Now Andur does have ice houses and under the right conditions, and a bit of magic, can make new ice. While they are a somewhat decadent treats even the locals can buy at shaved ice and sherbets at certain times of the year. Ice cream though is strictly something we bring from the modern world and is considered a very exotic treat. After much pestering Jedel was able to convince one of us Moderns to take her there so she could make a run to a local market for a shopping expedition. Ice cream for the Ice Lord.
For his part Siegfried graciously accepted her offer to partake of ice cream. He was rather impressed with ice cream, but not so much with the young lady offering it. While she possesses spectacular power and positively exuded raw talent; he found her to be rather flighty, undisciplined, and lacking in focus. He was not afraid to make these opinions known to Jedel, and for her part she was rather taken back by this. While she has been told numerous times by others that she needed to get more control sometimes it takes a complete stranger to drive home a point. Sort of a bucket of ice water in the face for her.

This is interesting... it's like you're making an illustrated story.
FYI - one does not need magic to make ice cream in the desert.

Yes that is what they use in Andur. The magic aspect came from the few occasions when someone needed ice and did not access or time for a Yakhchal. Good wikipedia article by the way. Much more concise than the somewhat wandering bit of text I read a few years ago on the subject.
