Well here we go, Sorry if its a bit smaller than the last two. The real action begins next chapter.
I hope you enjoy, leave a comment if yah want!
“Cade”
A grumble was a answer as the Shepherd looked up from his dual meal, muzzle coated in the cheap, bland tasting food as he placed his fork down, looking up at the furry who spoked, His Loader Andrew.
“Yah Andrew, what yah need, Ah’m enjoying the spoils of ah bet here” he said, burping as he wiped off the food coating his face with a Napkin. The Jaguar merely grunting, motioning for the Dog to follow him. Cade sighed, pushing both rations away as he stood up from the bench. “Fine, Fine, ah was done anyway” he grumbled as he followed after the Jaguar, pushing the flap out of his way as he followed after.
They walked a bit, moving between the furries moving about, either carrying supplies or weapons as the camp was being pulled down in advance of the future move that was going to be happening soon. Cade grumbled, moving his paws down his uniform, ruffling the creases in it as he figured who would want to see him. And wouldn’t you know, he was going to be correct. Up ahead, once again Standing in front of the tank, No, Kay, Was the Major, eyeing the Tank as his fellow crew members scrubbed her down.
The Majors ears flickered, turning towards the approaching Pair. Andrew walked by, grumbling as he moved back towards the tank, grabbing a sponge and helping the other four as they scrub down their new tank, her new gleaming United States decals plastered over her original green paint. “I see you were enjoying yourself there” stated Jackson, Cade grunting as he wiped away the last of the food off his muzzle before giving him a half hearted salute.
“You needed to see me sir?” he asked, Major nodding before turning back to Kay. She grumbled, tilted as the four scrubbed down her side and along the top of her turret, violet eyes flickering to the crew, a frown clearly visible under her mantle as two of his crew scrubbed between the gearing of his treads.
“Yes I did. You’ve brought quite a pickle to this unit now. Your tank is apparently living creature, which would make it part of Jacks company., However, I find myself with two problems; One, I know of your recent...animosity, with the Panther.” Cade snorted, rolling his eyes at the statement.
“Listen, not mah fault he ah kiss ass. Ah don’t respect him, and ah have said that repeatedly with requests to be moved away from him. Ah won’t deny it, ah really enjoyed his face when he figured out not only did ah get back into tanks, but ah’m commanding ah damn Tank Destroyer” replied Cade, snickering afterwards as the Major softly sighed, bringing a paw up to his eyes and rubbing them as he grumbled.
“Yes I am fully aware of it. Regardless of what he thinks or wants, this is my unit, Not his. As such, you fill stay by what orders I gave, and if he gives any contradicting it, you are to ignore them.” the Major finally said as Cade smiled, than grinned.
“Oh thats fine with me, anyway ah can stick it to high ass, is good for me”The Major sighed at that statement, but decided against adding on it.
“Yes, well, that is just my first issue. Second issue, with the limited communication your tank actually has done with us, It’s come to attention that either she doesn’t know english, or is choosing not to speak in it, as all talk from her has been in russian, which no one here apparently can speak” the Major stated, Cade blinking slowly than sighing loudly at.
“Figure, ah get ah living tank, and it's only Russian she can and will speak, great, fucking fantastic” he said, folding his eyes and huffing. The rumble of gas engine grew closer and closer as the Dog sulked, the Major raising a eyebrow as the sound of squealing brakes could be heard. Cade blinked turning about and nearly slamming his nose into the bumper of the Hanomags, or a Sd.Kfz. 251. He took a step back, the Half track carrier grinning bubbly at the pair.
“Hi Major!” she said sweetly, her mirrors twitching happily as the Captured German armored vehicle beamed.
“Hello to you as well Stacey, What can I do for you at the moment?” asked Major Jackson, folding his arms behind his back as Cade took a few more stops back, not wanting the Vehicle in his space as badly as she was.
“Heard yah talkin bout Kay!, Thought I could help yah out with her if you want” beamed Stacy, grinning as her blue eyes fluttered playfully, earning a snicker from Cade and a sigh from the Major.
“And what could you help with Stacey?” he asked.
“Well, I can speak a Russian, not well, but enough! And um, well, she caaaannn speak English, she just doesn’t, you know, trust you furries. She had bad experience with her last crew.. Um.. she says they were, er, “damn fucking cowards” and that she hoped they would be raped in hell for being cowards” Stacey said, biting her lip softly at the end as both the furies blinked.
“Well.. that's ah lot tah take in” muttered Cade, rubbing the back of his neck softly as the Major nodded softly.
“Don’t be upset, you know, Cade. She does like you, at least from what we talked about, she likes the crew as well you have. She justs.. Need some time I guess before she’ll talk to you all?” Stacey added, earning a sigh followed by a grumble by the Dog.
“Ya Yah, ah understand, ah suppose. Doesn’t mean ah like it, but ah guess as long as shes not actively trying tah fuck us over and is willing tah help than ah guess it’ll work for now” Cade said, sighing as he turned back to Kay, the Tank staring at him with her violet eyes. He raised a eyebrow, staring back at her for a few seconds before Kay closed her eyes slowly, leaning onto her right tread , letting his crew to pull debris out from between her left tread and running gear.
“You get back to your tank CO, I need to run things with Stacey and the other armored crews” Major said as he turned to Stacey, pulling himself onto her hood as she reversed away, leaving the Dog by himself.
“Yah Yah” he muttered softly, blue eyes sparkling softly as he walked to his tank and crew;
It was time to saddle up he supposed.
The rumble of diesel and gas engines sounded, the ground thundering as the column of armored vehicles and infrantly moved down the country road. The interior of Kay was cramped, six crew crammed inside her as the protected the rear vanguard of the battalion. Cade and Connor had their paws ,or hooves in Connors case, around the sticks, pushing and holding them forward while the rest of the crew leaned against their particular stations, only Louie really paying attention, looking for the protected slits to watch for any movement ahead of the column, as he had the highest view from the tall turret.
“This sucks” complained Darnell through the headset, the loud drone of the engine making it hard for his fellow crew members really to hear him.
“Yah ah know, but ah would rather have ah lot of boring than ah lot of fighting, more likely tah live. Hopefully, the 31st took care of that Panzer division, ah would rather not run up against them with ah small ass group” answered Cade, his eyes scanning the front slits, making sure to keep space between him and the Shermans ahead of them.
“Yah I guess, still, Would be nice still to get some action you know, maybe a armored carrier division maybe?” said Darnell, somewhat hopeful as the loader next to him snorted.
“That's not something you want, I would rather not have to murder someone unless we have to” grumbled Andrew, earning a eye roll from the rest of the crew.
“You need to , what's the word, “Man up”. They won’t not shot you” said a heavy German voice, Muller not looking up from his Radio.
“German boy is right, They’re losing, abd. They gonna wipe as much as us out as they can before they can, they’re like a feral dog, back it into a corner, thats when the teeth really get shown” stated the smaller Zebra from the ammo rack, earning a mumbling of agreement from the crew as Andrew snorted, closing his eyes to block out the noise the best he could.
“Dead Panzer ahead” a loud, heavily accented Russian voice said through the cabin, seemingly able to overpower the noise from the engine.
“Well, at least she's talking to us a bit, better than nothing” said Darnell with a shrug, Cade rolling his eyes and mumbling softly.
“And that's all yah getting till she ready tah really wanna talk, we gonna have tah show her we ain’t fucking wimps, and dammit tah hell if we fucking ain’t. Louis, can you confirm what Kay said?” Cade asked, turning his head slightly towards his crew, the Zebra grunting softly before looking down from his position.
‘Correct, 2-3 miles ahead. Single shot through the back of the turret, no evidence of fire” he stated simply before standing back up into his position, his brother snickering at his dry response.
“Alright, Muller let the front know, we may be coming on a recent battle scene, and I want them to be ready in case shit hits the fan ahead of us, got it?” Cade quickly said, Muller nodding in agreement as he he turned the radio to the frequency and started talking into it. “Alright boys, start scanning, ah don’t fucking need ah Panzer tah get tah drop on us and punch ah hole through something important, Kay may got thah gun, she ain’t got the armor” he stated, the rest of the crew nodding before getting back into proper positions. He was turning back when his radio operators voice came back.
“No Response” Muller said simply, Cades head whipping back to him as he narrowed his eyes. “Unable to talk, no response” he added, Cade giving a curse under his breath as he turned back to his viewing slits.
“Fucking hell, everyone keep yah fucking eyes open and yah paws or hooves on yah stations, ah don’t fucking like not being able tah warn others. Thats goes for yah too Kay” he growled, pushing the stick a bit more forward, Connor joining him as the roar of the engine grew a bit louder, trying to keep up with the faster moving Shermans.
“Affirmative” replied the tank quickly, her heavy Russian body thundering down the dry packed dirt as they tried to keep up.
“Cade, I don’t like this” replied Connor through the mic, the co-driver looking rapidly from the slips to him and back. Cade grumbled, joining in on his drivers sentiment, his eyes rapidly moving between the slits, trying to see ahead of them, though the mass of American metal in front of them was making that damn difficult at the moment.
“We’re closing in on that destroyed Panzer” replied Louie simply over the mic, Cade and the others nodding as they got closer and closer to it. The SHermans in front of him started to stagger a bit, spreading out as they saw the Panzer themselves for the first time.
“Be prepared boys, anything can happen” Cade called quickly over the mic, just starting to push the stick a bit back to slow themselves down from the rapidly decreasing distance of the Shermans in front.
That's when the first Sherman in the column blew up.
I hope you enjoy, leave a comment if yah want!
