This is one of those silly flashes I got sometimes. But I like totally random ideas.

I am reminded of the book ' Who's afraid of Beowulf', the plot of which is centered mostly around an Archeologist who finds herself suddenly in the company of a group of Norsmen who had been sleeping for well over a thousand years.
Specifically, the parts of the book where they visit the museum, and reveal that the ancient artifact, originally thought to be the kings standard, and recently determined to be a hat stand, was in fact both. They then made disparaging remarks about the quality of leadership that kingdom had. One of them points out to the lecturer that a particular pile of fragments was put together wrong, it should look like this and sit on the head, just before taking back his bronze arm ring.
In short, my point is that forward or backward, unfamiliar is just that.

The edition I own is copyright 1988, printed by St. Martin's press, and lacks an ISBN number, oddly enough.
Possibly worth picking up if you can find it. Won't be put out if you don't want to, or if you do and dislike it. To each their own taste and preferences, yes?

I actually have an idea for a story in which she is in our time still as evil and miscivieous as ever, but since in our time almost all of the magic is gone she is fairly powerless and also tiny, just about 20-30 cm tall. Now there is this guy, who found an artifacct that she is bound to on a fleamarket and now he is stuck with a tiny angry evil ancient cat goddess that tries to get her new slave to do evil deeds while she longes around in front of the TV and orders shit on the internet.
Yeah...loneliness seem to be trademark for many villainess. Cackletta, Mirage, Oriale(from argain the prophecy), even Vexus and Lord dominator...all ridiculously alone, save for some individual servant and often mindless minions...I mean they put lot of effort in their job but seem to have sacrficide most of their social life(albeit in all of their case there is some curious hint of lounging for more...I listed these gasls because all of them art some point shown in an episode or two a certain...craving for some company. In a more modenr setting they would all probably be workaholic top manager or something like that...and now a new fetish arouse in my mind )
