Fire coming from saliva glands? Nice, I like it! Better than lierally breathing fire from the lungs.

I think its supposed to be like bombardier beetles, where two liquid chemicals are forced out and when they mix they catch fire away from the body. Neat beetles and great realistic dragon concept.

It's a little like Kiono says and a little like you say, they're modified salivary glands, but the chemical on either side is actually the same and combusts when mixed with air (maybe, possibly, ngl they're a fantasy critter and I'm not going into the science too much or they'd never get off the ground), Skerries aren't particularly accurate with their fire (the dual streams have to be Very equal to go straight forwards) but some can actually manipulate it enough to breathe fire sideways.

Reminds me a lot to the way they made the dragons breathe fire in Reign of Fire
