A memorial page I wrote when one of my best friends died. But at least McMoo wasn't the only one: A lot of people living in the path of the pollution spume from the Motorola plant got cancer. But they did something about it: They paid off politicians to make sure Motorola couldn't be sued for it. I get a warm feeling inside, every time I think about it.

Wait, what?! They payed politicians so they could not sure motorola? What the fuck is this? Simply file a danm lwsuit against the company, no politician can prevent you form doing that. If they really passed a law that banned suing big company it would be against the constitution of your country and against EU regulations and a lot more.
Well, I remember that Motorola had to pay several million Euros if not more due to violation of EU rights maybe that had something to do with it, but I have to ask: when the evidence was there, why was that not filed to the highest court and, even more, why where the politicians re-elected if they did let that happen? You know, I would have invited Michael Moore over to make a documentary regarding that, this sure would have stirred shit up.
Wait that happened in the USA where everyone files lawsuits against anyone for all kinds of reasons? I thought it happened in Iceland or something.
I really ask me what kind of Law system you guys have over there, from the sounds of it, its utterly ineffective and even a bigger bureaucracy then here in Germany. I mean, sopping a suit because someone is away for 2 weeks? Sucks to me you, but here you have to get a replacement layer or the case will be set without him and then if the case will be a) dismissed or b) will be judged in case of the pursuers. While we also have case that take years, we do not have a system that will stretch it to a unlimited amount of time and most cases are actually set very quickly.
You know, if any company here would do that what Motorla did in the USA, thier ass would now burn in hell, because all those activist groups would come after them like there is not tomorrow and such a suit would make big press not to mention that we have a Green environmentalist party who would gladly take matters in their hands and show how evil big cooperations are.
But on the other hand, Krano bitter and deafted and thats the problem here: the current defeatist attitude is what makes things like that possible, people rather run away then actually fight or do something, because they have things "Well, we cant win anyway " or "We cant change anything" thinking. Write your Congressmen, file a lawsuit, demonstrate, create your own party, join an existing party and get elected into congress etc. So many things you can do.
Things can be changed, look at the history of Germany, we where a split nation once, we had a wall separating us, we had a separate Germany that was run by a communistic dictatorship and the people got rid of it in only one
night. If we can do something like that, then we and you guys can do the same and a lot more, but you really need to want it.

They're not OUR congressmen. Their constituency is the rich and influential. The people who voted them into office are irrelevant. And as the current healthcare thing is showing, very easily manipulated to act against their own self-interest in order to keep the profits flowing to the corporations who are hurting them.
I ordered a mini-comic from Mr. McMurray with a nice personal letter and a Zonie doodle on it several years as my only contact with him before his passing.
I did purchase that Zonie tribute jam comic from Shanda Arts I believe. Impressive list of contributors paying tribute including Reed Waller and Stan Sakai among others.
Tragic loss.

He was damned awesome people. One of the few folks I know who was entirely go rather than show...And it was all go in good directions. Tremendously tolerant even with idiots who didn't deserve it, and the sort of person who betters the lives of people around him just by his existence.
I met McMoo years back when I was living in Cleveland. Mark Stanley and I flew down and spent a week camping out at Fort Zonie. Was the first time I'd ever reloaded ammo, and McMoo taught me how to use his loading press. To show the great faith he placed in my abilities, he shot said ammo the next day when we all headed out to meet up at the desert shooting range. (was also the first time I met Karno and Ted Sheppard).
When I heard of his passing later on, I felt as if a part of me went with him, even though I didn't know him nearly as well as others.
