One of the things I enjoyed doing back when I was in School was painting horses. I used Oil Paints since they took a long time to dry so blending was easy. I also worked in layers so if something was not working out I could just wipe it off while the paints were still wet and my previous session wuold still be in tact (much like an undo tool)

This is beautiful. I just go back to look at it. You probably think I'm silly, but I had to catch my breath when I saw it the first time, and then I had tears running down my cheeks, even though it makes me smile. It really made an impact on me. I don't know why, but I just got really touched. It's like something made out of light and mist but still solid enough that you could reach out and touch it. And it reminds me why, when I happen to get near one, I get really affected by horses.
(Sorry if my comment makes no sense, but I really don't know anything about textures and shadows... I can just say what I feel when looking at something.) This kind of makes me want to try oil painting.
