Ann, why?! Also, that's kinda strange, isn't it, that it isn't necessarily whether the incense burns all the way but whether it falls that determines the change?

Because fluff is best, I guess. I realized during the review process that the business really has no motivation for the TFs, but a larger narrative wasn't the focus of this work. It's why the business doesn't get a name, I didn't want to emphasis that aspect of the piece.

As I said, the story was influenced by burning incense, so I wanted the entire process of how incense is consumed to have a part to play in the story. The incense burning, the smells that evoke relaxation or nostalgia, and the way the ash grows heavy before falling from the stick.
