When I was a young lad, I used to be terrified of people letting those things fly around on air. Something about the rasping noise...

But when they pop, they die. And you are left standing to laugh at their rubbery husks.

I can deal with balloons when they're just tied down and not doing much, but when they're being played with, especially by little kids who go wild with them, I get as far away from them as possible.

I've hated balloons ever since I was a kid, I still hate them today. >.<

99 shiny balloons on the wall,

I used to be the same way. Inflated balloons terrified me only because of the prospect of them bursting.

I've outgrown that fear though.

Lol. This reminds me of my mother in law. She's terrified of balloons and freaks out when one gets near her.

Oh man, I hate ballons! When I was little, every time a ballon would pop I start to cry, and now I always get scared around tons of ballons. I feel your pains ;)

Aiyy x3 I agree! They all laugh at me when I run and hide when girls at our school get baloons from people x3 some people get like o.o 20 of them x3 it's terrifying! especially cuz they sound like gun fire in the hall x3; makes me think we're having a shooting all over again x3;;

I've faved this because I can painfully relate to this. My brother used to play this trick on me when I was little...when he would pop balloons over my head in my sleep. It wasn't very good for my heart...

I'm only afraid of balloons that hover. o.-.O Where they're not really on the ceiling or the floor. They just...float...in midair. And if you even slowly walk past one...it follows you, slowly. O.-.O This has always terrified me as a child, and continues to haunt me as an adult. Especially when it's nighttime, and you can see its' sillhouete (crap, I spelt that wrong. That's a hard word to spell). O_O *shivers*
And despite how much I love hot air balloons, I get claustrophobic when I get too close to one being filled up with air.

I still don't understand this phobia. It makes little sense to me XD. I mean sure it can startle you, but it's not like they can kill you or anything.

My dad put a deep sense of fear of dolls in me. I pretty much can't stand puppets/dolls/manequins/mascot-ers(fursuiters).

Then that's how you explain it.. it's not just a fear.. i mean a balloon popping the noise can't hurt you or bring any harm to you.. but I was made to fear balloons thru my uncles and nephews. That's how you get a fear like that..
