A mixed chaotic tango of weaves and bobs, twists and fluid, liquid turns that left the two dizzyed in the dance they dived into. Swirling about the bright lights and sweet tinted smells of the schools gymnasium, Rhubella actually found herself genuinely smiling. This. Was. Fun. She was actually having fun! Somewhere, along in the midst of the firth twirl of her glittering, fluttering dress, she'd long stopped caring what the other snobs thought of her. Stopped labeling herself and stopped counting the moments until the dance was done. Somewhere, she'd picked up a steady rhythmic motion, that flowed like a sweet mathematical equation. A number of flooded steps and confusing foot falls that ranked high on her list of things she'd never thought she'd do. She even stopped gazing over at Rodrick, no longer caring if he were miserable without her, and no longer wondering if she could make him suffer anymore. None of it mattered!
Chaos dipped her down low, till she swore she was about to crash to the floor, but his arms gripped her lower back and tugged her up, holding her carfully with a fluid and all too surprising grace that she never would have expected come from the young brainiac.
There was some unwritten rule now, standing between the two of them. Some clear, invisible line. No talking, no ruining the experience with questions and conversation. The music whispered through the two of them gently, connecting them in graceful dips and long twisting rolls of hips, toes that brushed against one and other, and fingers that held firmly clasped like the warm heart beat that throbbed in between the two of them. It was a dance she would never forget, and one that echoed on long past the end of the night.
