Hungry Hungry Zard
Charmeleon and Hackmon were relaxing in their individual beds...fast asleep after having eaten their respective partners who after a long nights rest have been reduced to a bit of chub on their bellies. Charmeleon reached down to scratch his belly in his sleep, claws squishing in the soft scaled hide of his that he'd gained from his trainer before he was woken up by the sun shining through the window and into his eyes. With a grumble he picked himself up out of the bed, his stomach letting out a low gurgle to alert it's owner that it wanted food again. He was just about to respawn his trainer when he heard an odd set of voices just on the otherside of the window...they sounded like teenagers by the sound of their voice but one could never be sure. He approached the window and used the desk chair nearby to give himself a boost and peer through the window.
They looked like neighborhood children...not trainers...given they were wearing casual dress clothes as if they were on their way to school. One blonde and male, the other was a red headed female, passing by the pokemon center on their way to wherever they were going...The female spoke softly, but Charmeleon was able to pick up what they were talking about well enough... “I hear that on route 23 just in front of victory road, there's this talking Charizard that's been blocking the way. Trainers who've encountered it apparently have gone missing too...If nothing's done about it there won't be a pokemon league championship this year...”
“Hmm...a charizard that can speak...” Charmeleon hopped off the chair and put a claw to his chin. “I know father can speak English...BARELY. And he's not someone who's known to just eat up everyone he see's...”
Hackmon mumbled in his sleep from the top bunk of their bedroom before dropping to the floor in another second...His head left a dent in the wooden floor and he remained in place for a good ten seconds before groggily pulling himself up and wiggling out of the blanket he was snuggled within. “What's going on...it's way too early to be hopping all over the place...” Hackmon rubbed his eyes, before letting out a yawn.
Charmeleon turned his attention to Hackmon and narrowed his eyes. He grabbed a sheet of paper and dipped his claw in some black ink before he started writing... before holding the paper out to announce his thoughts. “Respawn Max...we're going to victory road ASAP.”
Hackmon stared at the slip of paper for a second, then let out another yawn as he was still half asleep. To which Charmeleon facepawed and charged at the dragon, actually forcefully opening his mouth and shoving his upper body inside. He pulled himself back out a few moments later with Max's pokegear and wiped it down with a look of disgust before it started glowing again, the light actually visable from outside as a few passerby's actually looked at the window as Max's shadow fell over the two reptiles!
“SO run this by me again..,” Max asked, riding on his Arcanine, Pyre's back. Pyre was a large Arcanine who towered just a bit over 10 feet, and his long, powerful legs allowed him to keep pace with Flare's Charizard whom both Flare and Charmeleon was riding on. Pyre was an old dog...a gift given to him by his late master less than a year after his passing. He watched Hackmon who was clinging to the Arcanine's massive fluffball of a tail to keep from getting flung off.
“Putting it short and sweet...” Charmeleon started. “There are rumors of a talking Charizard infront of Victory road causing trouble for aspiring trainers like you. Apparently...trainers are going missing after seeing that Charizard!” He finished, surprised that a land based creature like an Arcanine could keep up with the speed of the Charizard fliers of Bellows island. “I don't think it's a test from the tournament committee either!”
Pyre blinked, leaping over several boulders as if they were just stepping stones at his size and growled out in english. “There's aren't many pokemon in this world that can speak the tongue of man. Think it might be another break in the barrier?” The Arcanine elder inquired, already zooming past route 23. They'd been running for nearly half a day now but it couldn't be helped given the severity of the issue. Pyre would only stop for the occasional drink by the river but otherwise pushed his body to it's limit.
“Like the Flamedramon?” Max asked, keeping his head low so that he didn't have to deal with the wind, plus being so close to Pyre and huddling in his fur was so warm. “I'd be willing to bet on it. As far as I know the only pokemon who can speak english are you and Grapple.”
"Hmph..." Pyre stopped in his tracks as he'd noticed the cavern that made up victory road, and growled. "Something...doesn't feel right..." Immediately, ge started sniffing the air with his sensitive nose, eyes growing sharp and ears alert, before he took a single leap into the air to avoid the sudden crash of a Charizard, landing just where they'd been standing.
It's sheer size...Max had at first, believed it to be Kenta, a Charizard belonging to a friend of his. However, upon closer inspection...he noticed a few glaring differences...For one...it had a tuft of fur on the top of it's head where scales should be...This one had a fur like appearance to it's body. Soft, and plush like, but every inch of it still spelled dangerous, as red eyes glared at the group.
With a sudden spin of it's tail, the Charizard had smacked Pyre in his stomach, forcing the old pooch to go crashing into the closest tree. He almost immediately, flopped on his stomach, exhausted and in pain.
"I'm hungry..." The massive reptile...if it could be called that with it's unique furred body, rumbled to the group, stomach growling audibly as if agreeing with his statement. Before the fire type could open his jaws again however, Pyre's body began lighting up into pixelized zeroes and ones, pulled into Max's pokegear, Hackmon standing but a few feet away from the impact zone with him.
"Pyre's exhausted. We pushed him a bit too far..."
The small dragon glanced at his trainer with a dissapointed look. "It was your own fault you know. Pyre's an old dog, he's not as young as he used to be." He stopped Max's possible retort with a claw, and stepped forward. "See his eyes?"
Max paused to take a quick look at the advancing Charizard and nodded in understanding. “Think we can take him without you digivolving?” He asked, trying to gauge their opponents strength judging from his size.
“If we can't then we don't do it at all. If he's under the influence of a shard then we should do what we can to keep him alive.” Hackmon answered, his eyes focused on their foe and dug his claws into the ground somewhat. He tilted his head only slightly to Max's direction. “Watch my back...” Hackmon then sprung into action, dirt flying in the air as he suddenly covered the distance between him and the Charizard. “FIFTH RUSH!” Hackmon's claws glowed bright as he bright them to his fat opponent’s gut and watched with both amazement and horror as it absorbed the impact of his attack. “what the heck?!”
His surprise was short lived as his foe grabbed him by the paw and was opening his maw wide, revealing rows of sharp teeth and a pink fleshy interior that seemed all too eager to accept him as drool dripped from it's muzzle. Max Jumped right into action, a veil of light enveloping his hands and feet to improve his speed and impact as he thrust his fist into the lizard's stomach and watched as it sank right on in up to his shoulder. “What is this?! Jello!?” Max cried out and looked up as Hackmon was being stuffed right into that hungry maw feet first.
“Max! Get me out of here!” Hackmon roared out, trying to stop his descent as his feet were already bulging out the fire lizards throat. He groaned in discomfort. “My cape is going to need a washing after this...”
“I'm coming!” Max, with effort, started pulling his arm out of the fleshy dome which seemed adamant on holding onto it's prize. He finally managed to break free and reached at Hackmon's hand paws and pulled. “You're not getting him...!”
Oh yes he was...Max propped his feet up on the Charizard's belly, his feet sinking in even as the big guy's powerful gullet was pulling in his friend. Max watched in fascination and horror as Hackmon's head squeezed into that gullet, and now his own hands, as they were still holding onto the digimon's paws while sliding down that warm tunnel too. “Ack! Hey stop this! We're not your lunch!”
"Oh yes you are..." The Charizard muttered this around Max's arm, drool dripping from the trainer's arm even as he was being pulled in and groaned as the tongue reached around to taste over his body even as it was being pulled towards that heated cavern. This...gave Max the impression that despite corrupted by the shard, this Charizard had some semblence of conscious awareness. He probably would have eaten them regardless of the shard. "I'm hungry..."
That was all Max heard before his head was squeezed into that tight, fleshy gullet..He heard no more words but plenty of sounds as wet swallows filled his ears as throat muscles pulled him further into the abyss that was this Charizard's stomach. He even laughed, when his stomach was being tasted over by that wet tongue despite the danger that they were currently facing. “Come on Max...think...” He muttered over and over to himself as wet, squishing sounds could be heard all around him as the charizard swallowed...soon enough he spilled into a dark chamber that he knew to be the pokemon's stomach, and landed right ontop of Hackmon who...after Max had created a ball of light in his hands, looked none too amused by the fact he was eaten.
“Max! I'm supposed to be the one that does the eating! It's MY thing!” Hackmon crossed his arms. It looked as if they had plenty of space inside of the Charizard, though the light gave them more detail than either of them cared to learn. “Hold on...hold that light up a bit higher...” Hackmon instructed, having spotted something in the corner of his eye. “A little higher...now to the left...there!”
Max saw it then too. Wedged into the flesh of their predator was a bright red shard covered in drool and saliva...so...did it eat someone or something that had gone beserk and then it got wedged up in here. “Careful not to touch i-woooah!” Max blinked as their prison shook around a bit, sending them smacking into the wall of the stomach. “Sounds like they're duking it out right now...”
“Well we can't stay IN here...we gotta get out.” Hackmon responded with a look of urgency. “I may eat you but I always bring you back. This guy's corrupt! HE Won't!”
“OK first of all...you know a part of that statement isn't true...you've kept me inside of you for days before, just so we didn't have to deal with that ice gym leader.” Max pointed out, pulling out his pokegear with one free hand. “Second...we're staying right here...we can't touch that shard but it's not like we can make him throw it up either given our physical attacks didn't even phase him...”
Hackmon had to admit...he had a point. Still... “Then what do you suggest? We just yank it out with our claws?”
The pokegear started ringing a moment later, Max was apparently calling someone. “Not exactly...I have a plan. And if Flare and Charmeleon can stay outside long enough...it'll work.”
“Spirit evolution!!” Flare roared out as flames enveloped his body. He gripped his pokegear in hand as pieces of red and white armor began to assemble over his body starting with his legs. Armored boots formed over his feet giving him a two toe-clawed appearance. With red armored leggings with flame like decorations pattered over them and vents stationed around his kneecaps. These same vents were visible on both his knuckles and shoulder blades which adorned the same blazing armor. Each shoulder was topped with a black spiked shoulder guard. Lastly over his head formed a red helmet that covered up his forehead and was decorated with three white horns, two on the side that were decorated with two red strips near their base, and the third decorating his forehead with a red tip. His hair grew out to great lengths, but retained it's blazing red image that the Bellows family was known for, only now it stretched out to his waist. He let out a sigh of relief as the flames slowly died down, before a new set of flames came out of the vents on his wrist. “Agunimon!”
The Charizard stared at the boy, dumbfounded by his sudden armored appearance. He looked human enough but the heat radiating from his body definitely gave off the impression that he was more of a threat now. “Humans transforming into different creatures? What's this?”
“LET. MY. FRIENDS. OUT.” Flare ordered. The casual, carefree Flare was gone. He was dead serious.
“your friends...? Oh! You mean my dinner!” The Charizard gave his gut a few pats, actually squeezing it between his claws a bit as if to tease his prey. “Why don't you join them in there? They're prety lonely.”
Flare growled. A surprising gesture for someone like him, and the anger that was running through the teenager's body grew even more apparent as his arms were alit with flames that circled over them. “PYRO PUNCH!” He roared out, as serpentine dragon made of fire shot forth from his wrists towards the talking Charizard. “Now...like I said...”
He stopped short of finishing his sentence as the Charizard emerged from the smoke, wiping a bit of dust off his belly and raised an eyeridge. “It's not very effective.” He then lifted up his gut once before letting it drop back down, further teasing the boy as his friends sloshed around audibly within that stomach. “Hey kid...Haven't you ever faced a fire type in battle before? You can't be a very good trainer if you haven't figured THAT part out.”
“Well...we'll see about that...Pyro darts!” Flare quickly went back on the offensive as he started throwing small bullets of fire in the Charizard's direction as if they were shuriken but looked dismayed as the fat lug simply stomped through his barrage of flames. “Oh boy...this isn't gonna go well...”
“Let's get you and your friends reunited. I'm sure it'll be a great party in there!” Just as he was about to reach down and grab the armored human, he was cut short, as Charmeleon stepped in the way, grappling paw for paw with his higher evolutionary cousin. “Ohhh what's this? My little cousin wants to join in on the fun huh? Well I always have room for family.”
Charmeleon's arms shook as he struggled to keep himself from being overpowered by the large Zard. Truth was he could hold his own against many of Bellows islands delivery Charizards but against the ones that trained extensively...he didn't have a prayer. This Charizard...was somewhere in between the two thanks to the influence of the Shard and he would have hated to see how he'd fare against this guy if he was at 100 percent. “I'm not gonna let you eat my partner...That's my job...” He replied in pokespeak. Even if Flare couldn't understand, he knew this guy definitely would. “Now...spit our friends out now. We mean you no harm.”
“Well I want to have dinner...that's my meaning. Now...get on...in there!” Suddenly the tie in strength was cut short as the Charizard rose to full height, lifting Charmeleon up without much effort and started sliding him right into that steamy maw. The smaller lizard growled and kicked at the tongue which pulled him in. He soon disappeared behind those lips and joined the pair already inside. “Time for my dessert...”
Flare's eyes widened as his partner, his best friend was devoured right before his eyes. He was alone right now...the only one out here that could stop this...this beast. But none of his attacks hurt it...oh well...guess it couldn't hurt to try. Anything was better than running away and leaving his friends behind. “PYRO TORNADO!” Flare charged in quick, delivering a roundhouse kick of fire to the Charizard's stomach and watched it sink in, just as he assumed it would.
“Are you giving up yet or what...?” The Charizard grinned wide and leaned down to lick Flare across his exposed chin. “Time for the last course!” With that, the Charizard opened his maw nice and wide. The armored human had little choice but to watch as those jaws came down on him. Swallowing him down as easily as they had the rest of his friends. With a few hearty swallows, the zard felt along his neck to enjoy the boy sliding right down into his stomach and let out a long satisfying belch.
Inside of the wild pokemon, things were getting way too cramped...the four of them struggled not to come into contact with the Shard but the Zard was pushing against them and making sure they were tightly packed in there. It definitely liked to play with it's food. “OK Max...What's this big plan of yours...” Charmeleon rumbled out, accidentally kicking the boy in the shin.
“Give it a few minutes...you guys did great!” Max called out, laughing even as he heard the stomach's sudden gurgling around them...they were about to be digested it seemed. But he didn't give up hope.
On the outside, the Charizard was enjoying his meal, pressing on his gut and mushing it against a nearby rock to tease and toy with his prey. His teasing was short lived however when he felt a rumbling beneath his feet. “Now just what in the...” He remarked, then blinked as the rumbling happened again. “hrm?...GRAGHH!!”
Suddenly the ground broke apart beneath him, trapping him in a whole that only seemed to contain his lower body. He was just about to climb out when a chain with purple aura started working it's way around his stomach, locking him place with surprising ease. “Grrrh! Now what? Hrrk! Gehh...I can't move!”
“Sealing chains. They're useful for keeping an opponent’s power locked away.” Came a voice walking through the forest. It looked human in nature, around the same age as the boys that the Charizard had recently devoured. “I use them on the most troublesome ones. The targets I'm either not allowed to kill, or have too much power for the public to safely take notice of” The teenage human boy stepped through into the dying light of the evening. His hair was a dark blue that touched just the tips of his shoulders. A single scar ran just below his right eye from a wound previously inflicted to him. He wore a black long sleeved shirt with red bracers attached to both of his arms that extended from his elbow to his wrist. He wore a pair of brown khaki pants and strapped to his belt were several pokeballs. “You can call me Jesse. I'm a Pokemon trainer...the one responsible for the hole you found yourself in is the work of my partner.” The ground rumbled once again, this time by Jesse's side. It opened to reveal the grinning face of a Nidoking. “His name's Grapple.”
“Heh you think a bunch of flimsy chains will get your friends back? I'm about to make you join them!” The Charizard rumbled, struggling to break the chains that held him firmly in place, but they just wouldn't go away.
“You can try. But I'll be long gone by the time you wake back up. I forgot to mention I go by one other name now...” Jesse lifted a single hand up in the air, before a death scythe aglow in purple aura manifested in his hand. “They call me the grim reaper.” Before the Charizard could utter a shout, the Scythe cut through his stomach in a single swiping motion. Oddly enough he was still in one piece though...But the shard embedded in his stomach had come flying out, before being pulled into the blade of the Scythe itself. A couple seconds, the Charizard collapsed, passed out from the extraction. Only then did Jesse dare remove the chains as they returned as if by command to wrap around his shirt in an X shape pattern. A moment later his pokegear lit up, revealing Max's face pressed up against Hackmon's. “Well I took care of it Max. You alright in there?”
“You bet!” Max laughed, trying not to let Charmeleon's foot hitting him in the face distract him from the call. “Nice work! We should have called you two right from the get go.”
“You should have. Yes.” Jesse, let the Scythe disappear into thin air and began walking away from the scene, Nidoking following behind.
“Wait...where are you going?” Max asked, noticing how the camera angle showed that Jesse was actually leaving the area. “Aren't you going to let us out?!”
Jesse stopped walking a few moments later, then looked back at the scene where he left the Charizard and smiled. “He'll let you out, I'm sure. If not then it'll be a pretty boring competition.” Jesse laughed as a few shouts and curses were thrown his way from the pokegears speakers, to which he shut it off as he and Nidoking stepped into the cave of Victory road.
Watching the whole ordeal from a safe distance, was a single male human, who looked like he was in his late teens or early twenties. His white hair stretched out to the middle of his back, with ruby red eyes that seemed to gaze at Jesse who stepped into that final hurdle for the league and smiled eerily. “Well...That was my last shard...I guess I'll have to entertain myself with these clowns at the tournament...I hope they're worth it.” He chuckled softly to himself, making sure he didn't wake up the now able bodied Charizard no longer under the corrupting influence of the shard. “Guess I'll go on in now too...see you all later...” He waved at the snoozing Charizard and began making his own way into the cavern, chuckling to himself all the while.
