Commissioned by Cody on Facebook.
So I guess this was inspired by something that happened in real life? My commissioner had a very clear idea of the scene - two furry friends, slightly drunk, getting emotional in the rain. I've drawn night scenes before but never rain scenes so this was definitely new to me. Also new to me was having two light sources - the night sky and the warm streetlights. It posed a bit of a challenge, I have to admit XD.
Let me know what you think below!

I think this is a lovely piece. Lighting can be easuer to work with if you apply a bit of colour theory (I'm only just finding out about this myself but it makes a huge difference!)
The two characters and main lighting can be done in shades of blue and yellow. You can then limit the BG to purple with stronger dark colours at the front fading to the BG for atmospheric perspective (I think that's what it's called!). It helps to create a bit more atmosphere and you can use the light to draw the eye around the piece. Another thing would be to weight down their fur with the water and add a bit of a shine effect - they'll be wet out in the rain! Plus a knocked over beer bottle would help convey the sense of the influence of alcohol on the scene - it's a common visual cue.
The faces and anatomy are spot on with bright and engaging expressions! This is a lovely piece, well done! <3
