Back to School
The time then came to start the third grade for Jack, Rachel, Yuki, and Maddie. The little coyote had been a bit quiet and shy but now seemed to be a totally different female. And what was interesting was that she picked up the interest of doing basketball from the bob cat. And what was more, she seemed to be a bit more interested in Yuki. For that vulpine, his baby sister had been born by this point and looked more like her father but acted just like Jade had at that age. But when awake, the little vixen seemed to directed herself to Paul like a daddy’s girl. Her older brother had gotten use to her quickly, proving he was a caring and loving older sibling.
Like the first day of school, Nicholas and his wife Topaz rose from their bed and got their little ones up. Lilly was now in the first grade and the third child would be starting in kindergarten next year. Once everyone had eaten and gotten breakfast, the long-haired vulpine got the eldest of his children to school. He said goodbye to each and Jack was the first of his friends to arrive in the third grade classroom. He didn’t have to wait long for Yuki to show up and then Rachel and Maddie were behind the second vulpine a few seconds later. The bell then rang and that meant it was time to begin. The teacher, who was a male one, called the class to order and the kids all started with a naming game. Jack was at attention, trying to memorize all the new faces he saw.
One of the new things that was introduced to them was the idea of cursive writing and multiplication. For the first time, Jack thought this would be a challenge. Still, the little vulpine liked them enough to give these a try. The other three were just going to do their best. However, the real part of the first day would happen at lunch. “Come on, I want to shoot!” Maddie said to the other three after they had finished their lunches.
“Uh… what’s with her?” Yuki asked Rachel with raised eyebrows.
“Oh she just wants to play some basketball,” the feline replied with a smile.
“I didn’t think she knew how to play.”
“She got into it over the summer.” The three then joined the coyote who had a ball ready.
“Hey Yuki, wanna see how you match against me?” the coyote asked with a grin.
“Why would I do that?” he asked.
“Oh come on, you’re not scared, are you?”
“Ooohhhh,” Jack went. “Now you have to. You’re not going to let a female beat you are you?”
“Fine then,” the other vulpine replied with a grin.
As it turned out, Maddie was quite fast with the ball. But Yuki made up for it with timing and reflexes. Rachel and Jack cheered for both of them. It was a close game, but the coyote won. “Aw man I was so close!” Yuki exclaimed.
“You were, but I enjoyed myself,” she said.
“Yeah… I guess it was fun…” The day then came to an end without any more incidents. It was now one down and a thousand more days to go. But next month would have quiet the few surprises.
