Itching powder on the feet is a pretty common corporeal punishment where I'm from. Sure, longer than a spanking, but preferable by far. Far fewer tears and arguably less medieval. =P
And then sometimes people mistake you for a birthday boy and slap you in the town stocks and slather your poor paws with the stuff. >XP
