Pfff, I wouldn't spend $35 on a pair of Levis jeans on sale at JC Penny let alone $200 for a single top. I ended up going further into the mall over to Old Navy and got two nice pairs of flex boot cut jeans on sale for $25 each. I guess some people would consider $50 for "designer" jeans a bargain, but I'm used to growing up as a kid wearing basic $15 jeans.

Indeed. My mother was the one who brought us shopping for school clothes as kids and I think basic jeans were $12 or $15 a pair. But that was also back in the 90's when everything wasn't overpriced for basic items like it is now. :)

In Germany a normal US jeans is 50 Euros the cheapest, going up to 120 for a Mustang or Lewis!

Ya, it's a similar story here if you go for brands like American Eagle or Hollister. Even JC Penny's own Arizona Jeans brand can go for $45 a pair if you ignore their clothing sales. That's why I've never gotten any jeans from JC Penny even when they're on sale. For them, $35 seems to be the cheapest they go on sale. I won't spend more than $25 for a pair of jeans regardless of who makes them. There's even the "boutique" brands that only sell through website which usually don't advertise much and their jeans tend to be crazy money, $95 at the cheapest on up to $150. x_x

I once walked into a mall store and prodded the sports coats... $600!? Even with an 80% mark down, normal price is around $60. Rip off. I see something I like, the first thing I check is country of origin and the price. 9/10, its a whole lot of nope.

Brand name stuff these days is nothing but status clothing, Levi, Iphones, etc, purely social status and what you can "afford".

In fairness, given the likely economics of a world where clothing for the lower body doesn't exist or isn't widely favored, it'd make sense that tops would cost more. $200 is still pretty excessive, but I can somewhat understand the logic.

Staring at the price tag... for a few minutes. THEN the actual $200 price hits you. Doh...!

I know some guys who sew too.... though do fursuits count as well? :P

Luckily enough I have an easy time remembering my pant/trouser size. Sadly t-shirts aren't as easy since brands vary in fit severely. My Arizona brand 2-XL shirts fit like an extra large or Large at times and my new XL Stafford brand t-shirts fit like a regular 2-XL.
