Hemloka’s magic kept him trapped here, away from the world. Since then, he'd seen more than one other wanderer end up transformed, though always into an animals or a monster, he remained the only centaur.

She delighted keeping him aloof and alone.

He could still remember…

…Kneeling for his commission as a squire in the castle sanctuary.

…Fleeing from beneath the spires as they caught fire and fell.

…Mourning as his horse and only friend died beneath him.

…Becoming a centaur, and bound to serve Hemloka.

He gripped his sword and snorted, another day, another daydream.
