Fall of Reach was definitely the best. I hope the game will be based on it. ;P

I'll probably reread the Cole Protocol again 'cause I've only read it once thus far.

I believe another book comes out in Novemeber, but I'm not sure.

Goodness, I hope so too. :( It'd be pretty awesome to see the variance between John, Kelly, Sam & a few others. I'm indifferent to see their faces, but personalities would be great! Is Protocol any good? Me & Liquid36 are curious.

It's not as good as Reach, First Strike, or Onyx. The problem I've seen is that Eric Nylund seems to be the only author who can actually write the characters in a likable manner. He works for Bungie and had a hand in writing Halo's franchise bible though, so he's got the whole continuity down.

Also, the characters everyone wants to read about is the Spartans. The shortcomings of The Flood, Cole protocol, and especially Contact Harvest is that they had other characters that we don't really care about, or in the case of Harvest, no Spartans at all. This is because they're incredibly mysterious and very, very badass.

Cole protocol was a much better book that Contact Harvest, but it's not as good as the others. The Spartans don't show up as often as they should have, but they were there at least.

I don't want to know their faces either. It keeps the legend going. Same goes for the Rookie in ODST. You get more into it that way. ;P

By the way, I did like Contact Harvest, I even liked The Flood, but for different reasons that the other books. Fall of Reach is my all time favorite though.

Definitely agreed. Nylund's books had me hooked; he knows how to work his magic with words. I mean, even the ship schematics & space fights were remotely more interesting to read than what occurred in Harvest etc. I feel kind of bad not having such a lengthy reply in return, lol. But everything you said were fantastic points! Even in means of the faces. I remember watching an interview where they had explained that leaving John's (I will punch someone if his last name is Smith or something, lol) face out of everything allowed the players/fans to really get engrossed in it more since they can imagine themselves as him etc. Harvest was pretty decent, but had me bored a few times - thanks a bunch for explaining, I'm not so hesitant to grab Protocol now! :D

The one thing I don't like it the parts focusing on the Covenant... Even the Saghelli. I just can't bring myself to like them. Too alien, not very sympathetic at all. Although Contact Harvest did do a good job of painting the Prophet of Truth as the psychopath that he is.

But then again, when I'm playing the games, I don't like using Covenant weapons or vehicles either. I must be xenophobic. :B

For that matter, not to thrilled about the Forerunner Trilogy coming up next year either. I have a feeling it may turn out to be a poor man's version of Azimov's Foundation series.

I would like to see a series focusing on the humans between the present day and the beginning of the war. 500+ years of history and civil war and colonization to explore, yes please.

Have you read the Cole Protocol? I haven't and I'm wondering if it's worth buying compared to the others X3 I was rather disappointed by the flood

Havn't yet, a bit discouraged from other reviews. It's very, very insightful...but not as action-ey exciting or anything. Lots of technicalities & space battles more than the others. I will get to it once I finish the others though, just to have the closure. I'm really biased to Eric Nylund's books, so exciting to read! :D

Gah, ive been a huge fan of the games since the Halo CE for the original xbox came out, and have just started reading the series. Boy what i have been missing! Im almost done with Fall of Reach..and i cant seem to figure out what the second book of the series is ;A;

Seriously! I'm a late fan, but I still love it like crazy. I have all the books but "First Strike" as of now. FoR is by far the best & if you enjoyed that, "Ghosts Of Onyx" is fantastic as well. I didn't allow myself to pick it up until I finished ODST since it goes in the timeline, lol. iirc "The Flood" is next, but not 100% sure. :c

i just finished ODST today, as a game of itself, not looking as to it adding to the storyline of what actually happend between 2&3, its a great game, bunch of action and the graphics are pretty good, i had my doubts at first for some reason >.>
and they put the Engineers into the game! i was so freakin happy when i figured out what they were X3 now when i roam the streets and see one, i dont wanna shoot em ;w;

eep, flood iss still creepy XD i remember playing CE and going against it the first time....me and my dad freaked out when the hordes of those little infection forms burst through the doors X_X i had a few amusing nightmares afterwards ^^

Yeah, it was meant to be an expansion at first. It's super short, but at least aesthetically pleasing. I enjoyed going through each character's own story, but still. I've been going completely crazy in Firefight with friends; Johnson's snarky remarks are the best. Oh man, I was soooo happy to see the "engy" (when yelling on XBL saying engineer wastes time) since the description was incredibly confusing in FoR. I got the 'Good Samaritan' achievement first, I refused to shoot. :[

haha..firefight ^^; i got to the second part of the second round, and lost all lives being by myself...but hey, first time doing FF, and i hadent even finished the game XD

Good Samaritan is going the ENTIRE campaign without killing an Engineer! Thus the "Naughty Naughty" achievement is killing 10 of them while in the streets. Oh lawdy, the Vidmasters aren't too bad - "Classic" is just driving thru Uplift Reserve without using any of the the firing triggers/bumpers. :) Good night!

CH was a bit slow, but I loved learning about Avery. XD And nope, no Protocol for me. I've finished all but that & First Strike (since I don't own it yet). I've heard mixed reviews as well, waiting to see if KidKaz has anything to say since they have!

MY favorites have to be The Fall of Reach and then Ghosts of Onyx. Cole Protocol has me worried a little since its kind of like....deviating from the others in terms of story (or so the back has lead me to believe)
