Arachnophobia: Fear of Spiders
The most popular of all phobias, save for Fear of Death, Heights or Tight Spaces. But pretty high up there.
As the name refers to "spiders" I went with multiple entities instead of just one.
My inspiration for each of them was pretty straight forward.
The one on the left was based on jumping spiders and tarantulas, the idea of driders also influenced its design. The primary thought for this one was big abnormal eyes and fur covered body.
The one on the right was based on the fearful aspect of multiple long thin limbs as it is what, to some people makes spiders disturbing. The appendages on the head are supposed to be pig tails that are spiked to resembled spider legs. Imagine someone decapitating her and suddenly the head walks on it's own. There's some nightmare fuel for you.
The one on the centre was more based on mythological incarnations of spider creatures such as Arachne and Jorugomo, both were described as beautiful women but with spider like traits. The multiple eyes present on one socket was an idea I had inspired from a picture. I gave her also the traits of being covered in spiders, as if she could control them without a problem.
Edit: Added a 4th monstrous spider.
The last one is based on the popular use of giant spiders in fantasy based media. I gave him several things that often people with arachnophobia would potential be intimidated by such as large oversized eyes, enormous fangs, the pedipalps being the equivalent of hands and in this case actually being hands. Some spiders rise their front pair of legs in a form of intimidation, I decided to use this to my advantage and make the first set of legs have large claws as if the creature was ready to pounce or grab a victim.
