Exploding arrows, perhaps aimed at other explosive materials, which were all around the area in key spots, or something?
Also, you could always have a naga named 'Peter OakDweller' (an arboreal snake, clearly) show up and eventually fall in love with Pylt. Then this 'P Oak' guy could accidentally get fused to her in a very familiar way. >:} (not during your Pathfinder games, though, clearly)

Explosive arrows, with "Beads" from a necklace of fireballs. The beads were ties on to the exploding arrows and then fired. The arrows themselves when exploding would set of the necklace beads which are much larger explosions.
