
(Moved to scraps because we've taken things in a different direction that makes much of this noncanon at best and simply incorrect at worst. Plenty of it is still correct, though, so I may make a new note related to this stuff later, but for now, scraps it is.)
My original intention for Argent's world, way back when I first started writing it, might not have been out of place in a Terry Pratchett novel – an alternate Earth where evolution followed a much furrier path, where the laws of narrative went hand in hand with the laws of physics, and where the inhabitants were slowly beginning to realize they were all part of an intricate fictional construct. Incorporating my setting with
Telokey-the-bat's universe meant giving up a lot of that, but I didn't mind, because I realized it was pretty silly in hindsight and wouldn't work for me in the long run. This is why my first two Argent stories have a pretty substantial dose of Early Installment Weirdness that I don't think I'll ever be able to wholly rectify. Also, Telokey helped me with the Vita and Orva stuff, so thanks, Telo!
