Waiting for takeoff
Ace Combat 7 has been confirmed for February 1, 2019 on PC. (January 17 on console, two weeks earlier.)
I'm quite a fanboy for the series, I'll admit. I jumped on the bandwagon a little late but I've been hooked ever since I started. It's a tough sell to get new people into it, though-- Since it passes for your average flight sim or military dick-wave at a glance, it's not immediately obvious the sort of series it really is: A very arcade-y, larger-than-life series that abandons realism in the name of rule of cool, features absurd sci-fi in its own universe/geography, and- perhaps most notably- tends to feature anti-war themes and an incredible soundtrack.
Except Assault Horizon. We do not talk about Assault Horizon. Stay away from Assault Horizon.
It's my first time actually drawing aircraft in detail, but hopefully one can cipher (HAH) out which aircraft is being used here. Don't be fooled by the paint job, though-- there's no relevance there. I just like the way Wizard livery looks. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be some generic pilot self-ratpresentation in the cockpit or whether that really IS Syd in a flight jacket, but heck, Syd's so close to home he may as well be a Fursona at this point. Who knows? Suffice to say, the series is back on my mind and I'll be taking some time to replay the PS2 titles while I chomp at the bit for more information.
I've waited nearly three years for the game already, but I can wait a little longer.
