When Butch and Shawnie start sleeping together, and talking about cubs, Red and Courage are overjoyed. That is, until a pair of yuppie squirrels show up, trying to take them away. Chris can only watch, from the sidelines as Shawnie and her new Partner deal with their first major problem, together.
This could almost be classified as a side story, because Chris is only a pasive observer, for the most part, but it's too good a bridge, between the mouse's life, so far, and the dark events, to follow.
The hardest part about this story was the ending. Sometimes, it's very hard to take a concept that makes perfect sense in your head, and translate it into something that makes obvious sense to everyone. I'm still not quite happy with it, but if I waited until I was, this story would never get posted, at all.

Thanks, while all of my stories tend to be very visual and descriptive, the journal-narration is something I did, specifically for the Mouse Diaries. I can't really explain it, the original story was supposed to be a one-off. My muse had other ideas, she saw a huge potential to dive into Chris' backstory and find out just what motivates my mouse fursona.
It rapidly grew from a single story, to a trilogy, to something that has an end point, but I have no idea how many more stories are left. I love it, because I litterally won't know, until the last scene I have in my head, is written.
