This took way too long to make!
I was looking through some of my old books about legends and myths and came upon the story of the Cuelebre. From Asturian and Cantabrian mythology, the Cuelebre is a pretty basic dragon: lives in caves, hoards treasure, and keeps benevolent fairies called anjanas as prisoners.
But another story I've seen floating around is more like a role-reversed Beauty and the Beast story.
In a small village, a young maiden loved to spend her days combing her hair and admiring herself by a spring. She was warned of a water nymph in the spring, but the maiden paid no mind. One day, a strand of her hair ruffles the water, allowing the nymph to break free. As a punishment for her vanity, the nymph cursed the maiden with the form of a large dragon. She said the curse would only be lifted if a brave knight with a pure heart could love her.
I thought it would be nice if I made that happy ending come true.
