So....for the last few weeks i’ve been mourning Vicky Wyman, reflecting on my own mortality, depressed that i might not have time to get a few core graphic novels done, not doing much art, just sort of flattened....
i had done some basic very rough colours on this ancient piece a couple years ago...a pic from back in my teens...so going back to it was sort of a balm....Colours are extremely rough at this point....
i posted the ink version three years ago with these comments:

"So again about five or six years before the dawn of furry....April '78.
"Pony girl and lizard girl and mysterious rider (in weird greco-roman 30's style space-helmet sort of thing)....Idea sort of mixed Bode and Dean, inking style a very loose variation on Moebius. Trying to use some of all their techniques (and Frazetta's and Shelton's etc) to create a sense of 3D depth. i had found, back then, that one could trick the mind-thing into actually seeing a painting or drawing as though it was 3D...pot sometimes did that, holding a lens over one eye could also trick the brain as to visual clues...the main point to give a lot of clues as to depth and form...all the artists mentioned above knew this stuff, especially Moebius. These days i can just see 2D stuff in 3D if i get my brain/eyes working that way...
"Anyhoo, this is a piece near and dear to me, but the inking was left about 40% unfinished...so during the last three years i started finishing it up digitally...put the last few touches on it tonight, and here it is after so long....
"And there is a colour version in the works...."

It's a most unique style. I am not aware of anything like it.
Mourning your own mortality? May i ask how long you have before your shuffle off this mortal coil?
What was it that Shakespeare said in Hamlet...
In modern English, for few understand the old English well enough for the full weights of his elegant witt, self included.
"who would put up with all life’s humiliations—the abuse from superiors, the insults of arrogant men, the pangs of unrequited love, the inefficiency of the legal system, the rudeness of people in office, and the mistreatment good people have to take from bad—when you could simply take out your knife and call it quits? Who would choose to grunt and sweat through an exhausting life, unless they were afraid of something dreadful after death, the undiscovered country from which no visitor returns, which we wonder about without getting any answers from and which makes us stick to the evils we know rather than rush off to seek the ones we don’t? Fear of death makes us all cowards, and our natural boldness becomes weak with too much thinking. Actions that should be carried out at once get misdirected, and stop being actions at all."

Slight correction: "... mourning Vicky Wyman, reflecting on my own mortality..." i wouldn't mourn my own mortality - what's the point?- but i would sort of mourn a lot of art and stories if they didn'y get done, especially my main stories.
i don't have set expiration date, it's just that my health has been less than great the last few years. And i see so many of my childhood/teenage heroes dying in the last few years as well. So...i'm trying to take better care of my health.
Nifty paraphrase of Billy
