Ever since the first prototypes took slow, fumbling steps on the proving grounds, the auger mech has become the premiere line of both defense and offense in the security of mother Earth. Wherever the armies of the EDF go, auger mechs aren't far behind.

Pictured here is one such variety of mech, the M7A2-Heavy Assault. Better known by troopers as the Rumbler. The machine is built for durability, a commanding view of the battle, and weight of fire. Primary weapons include twin GAU-8 Avenger 30mm Rotary cannons and twin BAS-7 Incinerator flamethrowers in the arms, six high velocity 200mm naval guns in a pair of shoulder mounted turrets, eight self reloading missile batteries, six double barreled fragmentation canister shot cannons, and numerous machine guns and small caliber autocannons. The A2 model improves over its predecessors with four launch tubes for the new Fang missile system, an improved full motion gearbox, higher resolution cameras and radar systems, improved hydraulic cooling, and heat dispersing armor composites. The A2 also features new modular construction techniques for ease of modification and retrofit. The powerplant consists of four GE 'Turbodyne' turbo-diesel engines.

The machine in this image is providing overwatch for nearby elements of the 606 Hellhound Rifles as they retake an urban center. Of interest is that this is one of the few recorded instances of an auger mech co-operating so closely with infantry, and the fact that this machine is permanently attached to this infantry battalion. The trooper responsible for capturing this image recalls that the "**** huge jackal" (street level, center) was involved in "very friendly" conversation with the pilot.
