Page two! :D
This version is without the gratuitous gore.
I wanted to really convey the overwhelming amount of raw power a cnossan warrior can bring to bear on anyone unfortunate enough to stand in his way. Here to demonstrate this is my first visual portrayal of Commander Phrynikos who people who read my descriptions might remember from my earlier pictures of Kyrophon.
Getting this second page up and ready took me longer than I'd hoped because I changed my mind about how I wanted the script to go and had to draw a new second page from scratch. Good news is that I have panel/page 3 mostly done and panel/page 4 completely done. Since this one's kinda gory I'm gonna post a clean version where good sir knight here managed to get out of the way in time.
Phrynikos is probably the most powerful character in the setting so far. Standing 4m (13') tall and weighing close to two tonnes, Phrynikos is huge, even for a cnossan. Furthermore, while most cnossi fight with brute strength alone and only think of fighting as an individual endeavour, Phrynikos is a grizzled veteran of nearly 30 years of battlefield warfare who understands tactics, strategy and the importance of technique as well as strength. Armed with a gigantic greatsword and tower shield that his strength allows him to manoeuvre with the agility that a human knight wields a longsword and buckler, Phrynikos is deadly alone but his true strength lies in his ability to marshal his kinsmen.
A cnossan unit fighting as part of another race's army is normally a force of pure chaos just as dangerous to its own side as to the enemy. Cnossi are disinclined at the best of times to follow orders from smaller races and once the scent of blood gets in their nostrils and the battle rage gets pumping all bets are off. However, with the sheer gravitas of a commander like Phrynikos in charge, the chain of command becomes unquestioned: the human generals speak through Phrynikos and the cnossan troops follow his orders to the letter. When Kyrophon served under him, Phrynikos' ability to maintain tight formation even while manoeuvring and make devastating charges on cue allowed the human generals to win a major victory against a large numerical disadvantage. Resplendent in his gleaming gold-trimmed armour and plumed helmet, it is not known exactly how much Phrynikos charges for his services, just that it's a fittingly massive sum for saving a kingdom or starting an empire.
