yep UP had a reputation for running some of the biggest locomotives on the face of the planet. plus the fact that these could hit 80 mph on a good day makes them all the more admirable
Wow, old post xD Yeah the whole thing was just kind of a flop. Some one also built a steam turbine driven engine. It just provided absolutely no benefit over any other power type.
There were a few successful turbine locomotives that I know of the British one ran for more than 400,000 miles of relatively trouble free running and a few in Scandinavia that ran for years.
yeah but #4014 from California is gonna be reactivated in a few years
So this will make 3 Big Boys within a 100 miles of each other
